Fernando Alonso Predicts Ferrari’s Resurgence at Monza and Singapore Despite Recent Struggles
Fernando Alonso has offered an unexpected forecast for Ferrari's performance in the upcoming Formula 1 races at Monza and Singapore.
Fernando Alonso has predicted that Ferrari will be the dominant team in the forthcoming races in Italy and Singapore.
After their victory at the Monaco Grand Prix in May, Ferrari has faced challenges with their performance, dropping to third place in the constructors' championship.
During this period, Ferrari has secured several podium finishes. However, they have frequently been the fourth quickest team, and their upgrade package introduced in Barcelona has led to the recurrence of bouncing in high-speed turns.
This situation has compelled Ferrari to make concessions with their car's configuration during race weekends, placing them at a disadvantage compared to McLaren, Red Bull, and Mercedes.
Given that Monza and Singapore have corner profiles that differ significantly from those of the recent tracks, Alonso thinks his old team might stand out.
After the race at Zandvoort, where Crash.net was present in the paddock, Alonso discussed his belief that Ferrari "will be the favorites" in two of the upcoming three races.
Alonso commented that while Mercedes is somewhat inconsistent, McLaren, Red Bull, and Ferrari are strong contenders for podium finishes each weekend.
The upcoming two races, excluding Baku, are expected to see Ferrari as the leading contender.
“Based on their performance in Monza and Singapore last year, along with Leclerc's victory in Monaco this year, I believe they will be the frontrunners for Singapore.”
Aston Martin faced yet another challenging weekend at Zandvoort.
Even though Alonso and Lance Stroll initially placed in the top 10 during qualifying, they both lost positions afterward.
Despite falling behind Pierre Gasly from Alpine, Alonso successfully secured the last available point.
Alonso mentioned that even earning a single point might have been more than what their performance justified.
"We had a strong qualifying session and began the race from seventh place, which allowed us to earn this point."
"We have to improve. In several races so far, we've had difficulty keeping pace with some of the mid-tier teams."
"It's essential for us to grasp the reasons and strive for improvement."
