**Fernando Alonso Dismisses “One Man Fix” as Adrian Newey Rumors Swirl Amid Aston Martin’s Struggles**
Fernando Alonso Addresses Speculation About Adrian Newey Announcement
"I'm not one for making excuses," Fernando Alonso remarks amid Aston Martin's challenges
Fernando Alonso asserts that solving Aston Martin's issues requires more than a single individual, even as rumors persist about Adrian Newey's involvement.
Rumors circulating in the Monza paddock during the F1 Italian Grand Prix indicate that Aston Martin might reveal the hiring of Newey in the coming days.
Adrian Newey, who currently serves as the chief technology officer for Red Bull, is set to leave his position early next year, at which point he will be eligible to join a competing Formula 1 team.
Rumors suggesting that Aston Martin could be his next team have intensified recently, while speculation about a potential move to Ferrari has diminished.
During an appearance at Monza, Alonso remarked, "It’s still just hearsay, and I believe that solving the issues is not the responsibility of a single individual."
"It's about our current situation and what we are creating. We need to recognize what is progressing well, what isn't, and aim to better prepare for 2025."
Adrian Newey being free next year would enable him to supervise the development of the 2026 car for a different team, possibly offering them a significant edge when the new engine regulations are implemented.
Aston Martin has allocated significant funds towards establishing a new facility at Silverstone and has extended Alonso's contract through 2026. They are also collaborating with Honda to develop an engine that complies with upcoming regulations.
However, up until now, the outcomes have been rather dismal.
Aston Martin holds the fifth position in the constructors' championship. At the Italian Grand Prix, Fernando Alonso secured 11th place while his teammate, Lance Stroll, came in 19th.
The year 2025 could serve as a period of preparation for Aston Martin, setting the stage for their major offensive in
“There’s nothing we can do about it,” Alonso responded. “We’re relying on our team, and I believe both Lance and I are giving our all every weekend.”
"During a weekend filled with inspiration, like this one for me, I anticipate it will remain entirely anonymous."
Throughout this year, Lance and I have consistently finished races within two or three seconds of each other, whether he's ahead or behind. Today was one of those weekends where I performed slightly better. I felt satisfied with the car and pushed it possibly beyond its limits, resulting in a P11 finish.
"Yes, it's disappointing. We need to stay patient and keep in mind that our main goal is set for 2026."
"However, I believe that as a team, we can come to terms with not competing for a top-four position. Those teams are elite and significantly ahead of us."
"However, being outpaced by Williams, Haas, and Red Bull indicates that we need to improve our performance. We must elevate our standards."
Alonso commented on the car for next year, stating, "I believe there is still time for us to make adjustments."
"McLaren went from being in last place to securing a podium finish in just four months. This provides us with clear evidence."
“Similarly, Mercedes began the season on equal footing with us. In the first four races, we were on par with them, and they've already secured three victories this year. Therefore, I don't believe in making excuses.”
However, it seems improbable that Aston Martin will perform better in the upcoming races.
Alonso expressed his frustration, stating, "Until the car gets an upgrade, this is the best we can do, and it's just not sufficient."
"Underperformed in Monza. Subpar in Zandvoort, Spa, and Hungary."
"I believe that unless we introduce new components, there won't be significant differences in Baku, Singapore, or Austin."
"That's our strategy. The team knows what's going on and is giving their all. We're staying together and continuing to make an effort. Last weekend, we secured one point. Today, we nearly got two points, and this will be our ongoing challenge."
