**”Fernando Alonso Addresses Adrian Newey Rumors Amid Aston Martin’s Ongoing Struggles: ‘I’m Not a Fan of Excuses'”**
Fernando Alonso addresses speculation about an imminent announcement involving Adrian Newey this week
"I don't like making excuses," says Fernando Alonso amid Aston Martin's difficulties
Fernando Alonso asserts that solving Aston Martin's issues requires more than just a single individual, despite ongoing speculation about Adrian Newey's involvement.
There were rumors circulating in the Monza paddock during the F1 Italian Grand Prix that Aston Martin might reveal their acquisition of Newey in a matter of days.
Adrian Newey, who currently serves as the chief technology officer for Red Bull, is set to leave his position early next year. Following his departure, he will be at liberty to join and work for a competing Formula 1 team.
Speculation about Aston Martin becoming his upcoming team has intensified lately, while rumors of a potential move to Ferrari have diminished.
During an interview at Monza, Alonso commented, "Although there are still only rumors, I believe that solving these issues isn't solely the responsibility of one person."
"It's about focusing on our current situation and output. We need to identify what's working well and what isn't, and then make improvements to be better prepared for 2025."
With Newey being available next year, he could manage the 2026 car for a different team, possibly providing them with a crucial edge as the new engine regulations come into effect.
Aston Martin has made significant investments in a new establishment at Silverstone and has secured a new agreement with Alonso that extends until the end of 2026. They will collaborate with Honda to develop an engine that meets the upcoming regulations.
However, up to this point, the outcomes have been quite dismal.
Aston Martin currently holds the fifth position in the constructors' championship. At the Italian Grand Prix, Alonso secured the 11th spot, while his teammate Lance Stroll came in 19th.

“There’s nothing we can do,” Alonso responded. “We are dependent on our team, and I believe that both Lance and I are giving our all every weekend.”
"An inspired weekend like the one I'm having now, I understand it will remain entirely anonymous."
"This year, Lance and I have been very close in our races, often finishing just two or three seconds apart. Today was one of those occasions where I performed slightly better. I was pleased with how the car handled and pushed it to its limits, possibly even beyond. As a result, I ended up in P11."
"Absolutely, it's disappointing. We have to stay patient and recognize that our main goal is set for 2026."
"However, I believe that as a team, we can come to terms with not competing for a top-four spot. The leading teams are significantly ahead of us."
"However, being behind Williams, Haas, and RB now means we have to elevate our performance. Improvement is necessary."
Alonso commented on the car for next year, stating, "I believe we still have time to make adjustments."
"McLaren advanced from the last position to securing a spot on the podium within four months. This serves as a clear example."
“Mercedes began the season just like we did. For the first four races, we were on par with them, and they've already secured three wins this year. Therefore, I don't buy into making excuses.”
However, it is improbable that Aston Martin will show better performance in the upcoming races.
Alonso expressed his frustration, saying that the car needs an upgrade and that its current performance is inadequate.
"Performance in Monza was lacking. The results weren't satisfactory in Zandvoort, Spa, or Hungary either."
"I believe that without introducing new components, we won't see significant changes in Baku, Singapore, or Austin."
"That's our strategy. The team knows what's going on. Everyone is giving their all. So yes, we stay together and continue to strive. Last weekend we earned one point. Today we nearly got two points, and that's the challenge we face."
