F1 Tension: Lando Norris’ Frosty Exchange with Lewis Hamilton After Hungarian GP Win Slip
Lando Norris’ uncomfortable conversation with Lewis Hamilton was captured on television following the Hungarian Grand Prix.
“You had a fast car and took full advantage of it. Now it's our turn.”
Lando Norris appeared uninterested in receiving compliments from Lewis Hamilton during their uncomfortable interaction that was broadcasted on television following the F1 Hungarian Grand Prix.
McLaren achieved their first double podium since the Italian Grand Prix in 2021 with Oscar Piastri earning his first-ever Formula 1 win.
Norris took the lead in the race following the second set of pit stops, as he was allowed to perform an undercut on his teammate.
The British racer had to ease up and let Piastri reclaim the front position.
It was no surprise that Norris wasn't his usual cheerful self after the race, as he missed out on another victory.
The first, second, and third place winners get a chance to converse post-race in the cooldown area.
Hamilton tried to praise Norris, but Norris responded in a strange way.
Hamilton first remarked, "You all are quick."
Norris reacted poorly to Hamilton's harmless remark.
Norris responded, “Sure, but you owned a quick car seven years back.”
Hamilton remarked, "Seven years ago? That feels like ages. Were you around back then?"
Norris commented, "You had your chance with a fast car and capitalized on it. Now it's our turn."
Hamilton promptly explained that he wasn't voicing any grievances but rather offering praise.
Norris feels frustrated because winning in Hungary would have allowed him to narrow the gap in the drivers' championship by an additional seven points.
Although Norris began the race in pole position, he was overtaken by his teammate and then continued to lose positions during the initial phase of the race.
Despite everything, McLaren had a good day and is now only 51 points away in the constructors’ championship.
