**”Esteban Ocon Blasts Alpine for Ignoring Driver Feedback Amidst Exit to Haas”**
Esteban Ocon criticizes Alpine: "Our concerns have been ignored"
"We've pointed out issues with the car, but they haven't been addressed or resolved"
Esteban Ocon has voiced his frustration with Alpine, accusing the team of ignoring input from their drivers.
Esteban Ocon has announced that he will be moving to Haas in 2025, bringing an end to his partnership with Alpine, which has become contentious this year.
His superiors reprimanded him following his collision with teammate Pierre Gasly in Monaco.
In an interview with Sky Sports, Ocon discussed his departure, stating, "We considered other possibilities and had discussions with several teams starting from mid-2023."
"I accomplished what I set out to with Alpine. We celebrated my first victory together. There were some great times, but also some challenging ones."
"There's no hiding the fact that it's been exasperating recently due to not having a reliable vehicle."
"We haven't received the attention we deserved. This includes myself, Pierre [Gasly], Daniel [Ricciardo], and Fernando [Alonso]."
"We’ve mentioned issues with the car that have not been addressed or resolved."
"We still face problems from several years ago, which is unacceptable in Formula 1."
'He's wearing an Alpine hat'
Ocon's critique of Alpine has taken some people off guard due to its timing.
While his time with the team is limited, there is still half of the 2024 season left to go.
Sky Sports' Naomi Schiff expressed surprise at the timing of his statement.
"Indeed, he’s departing, yet he remains seated, donning an Alpine hat. There are still 10 races left, and he’s still part of the team."
"It's amusing how these drivers create the impression that everything is going smoothly, but once they depart, the reality becomes apparent!"
"As a driver, you seek to be heard. Engineers analyze data and sometimes interpret it differently than what drivers convey, which can occur. Drivers are not infallible."
"However, it seems that everyone's requirements should be addressed. It appears he didn't believe that happened."
"In certain aspects, the outcomes are evident. The frequent shifts in management make it clear."
During the F1 Belgian Grand Prix this weekend, Bruno Famin revealed that he will be stepping down from his role as team principal in the near future.
Just a year has passed since Otmar Szafnauer departed from the same position, which occurred during a broader wave of departures from Alpine.
Famin also disclosed that the team is thinking about purchasing engines from another supplier for the 2026 regulations.
Bernie Collins commented on Ocon’s remarks about the team, stating, "In every team, sometimes it takes one individual to voice their concerns in order to hopefully initiate change."
The driver is the priciest component in our vehicle.
"The initial question we pose during a debrief is: what is your most significant constraint?"
"It's essential for the driver to feel at ease and follow your instructions precisely."
"It's not like playing a video game. Drivers need to trust the car to consistently hit the braking point every lap."
"Motorists are human beings. They each have their own unique traits."
"We often discuss the idea of building a car tailored to a specific driver. It seems like that's not the case here. While designing a car for one driver is challenging enough, not catering to any driver at all is a major issue!"
Esteban Ocon secured the seventh quickest time during the second practice session on Friday at the Belgian Grand Prix.
