**Esteban Ocon and Alpine Part Ways: French Driver Set to Leave at End of 2024 F1 Season Amid Team Struggles**
Esteban Ocon to exit Alpine after 2024 F1 season
Alpine has revealed that Esteban Ocon will depart from the team once this season concludes.
Alpine has revealed that Esteban Ocon will depart from the team following the conclusion of the 2024 F1 season.
Esteban Ocon's agreement with the French automaker was set to end by the close of this year.
Nevertheless, the two sides have decided to "separate" before 2025.
In recent weeks, Ocon has been strongly associated with potential transfers to Haas and Sauber due to Alpine's disappointing beginning to the year.
The winner of the 2021 Hungarian Grand Prix seems to have a strained relationship with Alpine, especially after Ocon's bold move to pass Pierre Gasly at the beginning of the Monaco Grand Prix last month.
Esteban Ocon first became part of the team in 2020, taking over the position from Nico Hulkenberg
He achieved his first Formula 1 podium finish at the Sakhir Grand Prix that year and later secured a win in Hungary.
In 2022, Ocon played a crucial role in steering the team to an outstanding fourth place in the constructors' championship, working alongside Fernando Alonso.
Discussing recent developments, Ocon mentioned, “Racing with this team in Formula 1 has been a major chapter of my life. Even though I've spent the last five years as a full-time driver here, my professional journey began at Enstone during my teenage years, making it a place that will always hold a special significance for me."
"We've shared some incredible experiences and faced some challenges too. I'm truly thankful to everyone on the team for these unforgettable moments."
"I'll reveal my intentions shortly, but for now, I'm entirely focused on performing well for this team and ensuring a successful end to the season."
Team leader Bruno Famin expressed gratitude, saying, "First and foremost, we want to thank Esteban for his dedication over the last five years. Throughout his tenure, we have shared many incredible moments, the highlight being his unforgettable victory at the 2021 Hungarian Grand Prix."
There are still 16 races left in 2024, and our goal remains clear: to keep working relentlessly as a team to achieve the best possible results on the track.
"We extend our best wishes to Esteban as he embarks on the next phase of his racing career."
