Electrify America Powers Up Moab with Fast-Chargers for Electric Off-Roading Adventures
Electrify America has launched high-speed 350-kw DC charging stations in Moab to support electric vehicles used in off-road adventures or for tourists exploring the neighboring Arches National Park or Canyonlands National Park.
In May, it was revealed that 20 new swift charging stations would be coming to Utah, with the latest batch being powered by Electrify Commercial, a division of EA that provides charging equipment to enterprises and commercial vehicle operators. These installations are being carried out in collaboration with the local energy provider, Rocky Mountain Power.
The Moab location features eight charging stations designed for 350-kilowatt charging, structured to support electric vehicles that are hauling trailers or are trucks. Currently, the GMC Hummer EV is the sole off-road electric vehicle that can utilize the maximum charging capacity offered.
The 2024 GMC Hummer EV SUV is currently undergoing trials in Moab.
In a statement from the previous year, Electrify America mentioned that the cost of using chargers operated by third parties might vary from the fees at EA's proprietary stations. However, these chargers will be integrated into EA's application and billing infrastructure, similar to the existing stations.
In 2022, Rivian disclosed plans for installing Level 2 charging stations at luxury camping locations close to Moab. Jeep regards this region as a core part of its brand identity and has, over the past few years, showcased a collection of electric off-road prototypes in Moab.
