Ducati Riders Predict Imminent Victory for GP23 Bike in MotoGP Amidst High Competition
Pecco Bagnaia expresses confidence that a victory with the Ducati GP23 is imminent
"I believe a victory with the '23 motorcycle is on the horizon"
Pecco Bagnaia and Enea Bastianini are in consensus that a MotoGP race victory is imminent for last year's Ducati model.
Marc Marquez stands out as the foremost contender among the GP23 participants, having neared triumph more than any other.
Gresini's Alex Marquez, along with VR46's pair, Fabio di Giannantonio and Marco Bezzecchi, each pilot the previous year's model of the motorcycle.
"Bagnaia expressed to Motorsport his belief that a victory with the '23 motorcycle is imminent."
"Currently, the standard is extremely elevated, especially with the introduction of new tyres, it has reached another peak, and the GP24 riders are executing an outstanding performance."
"We're not merely present; we're not a trio of sluggish cyclists. Instead, we're performing exceptionally well."
Bastianini, who also rides for Ducati, concurred, stating, "I'm on the same page as Pecco."
"Reflecting on the previous year, it was essential to allocate some time for adjustments on the motorcycle, which was a distinct experience compared to the work done on his Gresini bike in 2022."
"For me, the 2023 model of the bike is quite similar to the 2024 version, and honestly, there wasn't much of a difference."
"As you've mentioned, Pecco, it's likely that the '23 motorcycle has potential for future victories.
"However, the issue lies in the skill level of riders on the factory-spec bike."
"We have a strong bond, and currently, Marc is significantly quicker on the 2023 motorcycle.
"However, in my view, the variation isn't significantly substantial."
Jorge Martin, who is on a Pramac team with a factory-spec bike, commented, "I believed [at Mugello] that the '23 would be more competitive.
"Due to the shifts in strategy last year, I outperformed this season's efforts."
"This year, I found myself facing significantly more challenges with the '24 compared to the previous year's '23.
"Currently, it's challenging to make a distinction as they bear a striking resemblance."
In the previous year, the prior model of the Ducati consistently clinched victories in Grand Prix races.
Bezzecchi, from the VR46 team, contended for the championship riding a 2023-model motorcycle, whereas the former Gresini competitor, Di Giannantonio, clinched a victory as well.
Alex Marquez claimed victory in two races last season aboard the GP23 as well.
