Did Nico Hulkenberg Jump the Gun? F1’s Most Underrated Star Signs Early Amidst Red-Hot Form
Did an "undervalued" F1 driver renew his contract "prematurely?"
"It's unbelievable. He's a remarkable driver. In my opinion, he's one of the most undervalued drivers."
It has been suggested that Nico Hulkenberg might have committed to his latest contract prematurely, before his impressive performance drew significant attention.
In an impressive feat, Hulkenberg has accumulated more points for Haas in the last two Formula 1 races than Sergio Perez has managed to secure in his last six races driving for the leading Red Bull team.
The experienced driver has committed to driving for Sauber next year and will lead the initiative that will transition into Audi with the new regulations in 2026.
During an episode of the F1 Nation podcast, Tom Clarkson remarked, “While it's fantastic that Hulkenberg has secured a long-term contract, I believe he committed to it prematurely.”
Natalie Pinkham commented, "Looking back, it's easy to see things clearly. He needed to ensure his future was safe."
"There was a period when he was employed by German television. We believed his career in Formula 1 had concluded."
"He's returned and is now consistently finishing in sixth place with Haas, outperforming Ferrari!"
"It's unbelievable. He's an outstanding driver. In my opinion, he's one of the most overlooked drivers."
“He ought to have reached the podium already.”
Nico Hulkenberg has secured sixth place in the last two Grand Prix races, which were held at Silverstone and in Austria. This is an impressive feat considering he is behind the wheel of a Haas car.
Hulkenberg confidently asserted that Haas has the potential to surpass Aston Martin and become the fifth-fastest team in Formula 1.
“The update has improved performance,” he mentioned at Silverstone.
"This brings me a lot of joy and gives me hope as I look forward to the rest of the season."
“We're now clearly competing to be the fifth-fastest team, which is a great development that nobody saw coming just a few weeks back. It's really motivating and optimistic.”
