David Schumacher, the son of Ralf Schumacher, showed a heartwarming reaction when his father disclosed that he is gay.

David Schumacher, the son of former Formula 1 driver Ralf Schumacher, has shared a touching reaction to his father's recent announcement that he is gay.

On Sunday night, Ralf shared a picture of himself alongside another man, with their arms around each other, indicating that he is in a relationship with someone of the same sex.

The caption stated: "Life's greatest beauty is found in having the perfect partner with whom you can share everything."

The announcement has received widespread backing, as Schumacher becomes one of the initial openly LGBTQ+ racers in Formula 1's history.

Mike Buettler, who competed in Formula 1 from 1971 to 1973, and Lella Lombardi, are the only two other drivers to have been openly LGBTQ+.

Schumacher competed in Formula 1 from 1997 to 2007, securing six victories throughout his career.

After stepping down from Formula 1, he has become a vocal television commentator in Germany.

Reacting to Schumacher’s social media update, his son David commented: "It brings me great joy to see that you have finally met someone who makes you feel truly comfortable and safe, regardless of whether they are a man or a woman."

"I fully support you, Dad. I wish you the best of luck and offer my congratulations."

German actress Carmen Geiss, who is a good friend of Ralf, posted a photo of him with his significant other.

Geiss expressed his deep affection by stating, "I adore you both immensely. Etienne, you have an amazing partner, more than you could ever dream of."

"After a two-year wait, you can now express your love openly. I've been acquainted with Ralf for over 25 years, and he has consistently brought immense happiness into my life."
