**”Daniel Ricciardo Apologizes to Nico Hulkenberg After Costly Clash at F1 Italian Grand Prix”**
Daniel Ricciardo comments on Nico Hulkenberg incident: “I believed there was enough room; I said sorry”
Daniel Ricciardo responds to collision with Haas during the F1 Italian Grand Prix
Daniel Ricciardo mentioned that he issued an apology to Nico Hulkenberg after the two drivers collided on the first lap of the Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix.
Red Bull driver Ricciardo was competing against Hulkenberg in the middle of the field during the first lap of Sunday's race at Monza when the two collided at Turn 8.
Ricciardo mentioned that he believed he had enough room, but then he felt a collision. This resulted in Hulkenberg's Haas being pushed onto the dirt, allowing his teammate Kevin Magnussen to move ahead.
The Australian driver received a five-second penalty for the incident but later had to serve an additional 10-second penalty because one of his mechanics touched his car during the initial penalty at his pit stop.
Ricciardo concluded a challenging race at his home track for the Red Bull team in 13th place.
He stated that, in the end, they didn't have enough speed today, penalties aside.
"We gave it our best shot, and I was having fun with the close racing at the beginning, but I ended up touching Nico at Turn 8."
"After the race, I had a conversation with him. I believed there was enough space, but I felt the collision, indicating I didn't leave sufficient room. I apologized for that."
"You put in a lot of effort during the race, but even the tiniest differences can have a big impact."
"The vehicle performed adequately afterward, and we gave it our all with the resources available. I aimed to extract the utmost performance from the car starting from Friday afternoon up until today."
"I personally feel much better this weekend, and we were nearly able to earn some points."
Tsunoda 'frustrated' after Italian GP
Laurent Mekies from Red Bull Racing stated that the Italian GP was heavily influenced by Nico Hulkenberg, as an incident involving the Haas driver and Yuki Tsunoda led to the Japanese racer's early exit from the race.
Yuki Tsunoda expressed his frustration, stating that it was unfortunate his race effectively ended just a few laps in because of a collision with Nico.
"I attempted to give him plenty of room, but it appeared that he froze up, which led to him losing control and colliding with me."
“Regrettably, we had to withdraw the car from the race due to sustained damage to the floor.
"I noticed the issue immediately and attempted to keep going, but the vehicle was skidding and I just couldn't control it."
"With Baku and Singapore coming up, our car is expected to perform strongly at those tracks, so we're optimistic about having successful weekends ahead."
Mekies is upset about the Tsunoda incident because it caused him to miss important track time in the newly updated RB car that was brought to Monza.
"Today’s race was largely controlled by Hulkenberg. Daniel received a five-second penalty for pushing him off the track. Later, Nico collided with Yuki, which ultimately caused us to retire the car," he stated.
"The most exasperating part about Yuki's retirement is losing out on 40 laps, which would have helped us better comprehend the updates we implemented at this event."
"Daniel was given an additional 10-second penalty due to an error in the implementation of the initial penalty."
"We need to reassess our procedures in this situation and take lessons from the error we made today. Although such incidents occur, our pit crew's performance has typically been outstanding this season."
