**”Christian Horner Pinpoints Front Wing Design as Critical in McLaren and Mercedes’ Recent Dominance Over Red Bull”**
Christian Horner points out the crucial aspect where McLaren has gained an advantage over Red Bull: "The front wing angles of McLaren and Mercedes are noticeably distinct."
Christian Horner thinks that the front wing is a crucial component in which Red Bull's competitors have gained some ground in the past few months.
Red Bull experienced their most significant loss in recent memory as Lando Norris took control of the Dutch Grand Prix, finishing more than 20 seconds ahead.
The outcome on Sunday has put their standing in the constructors' championship at risk, as their advantage over McLaren has been reduced to a mere 30 points.
Max Verstappen faced difficulties managing the RB20, noting that he encountered issues steering the car in several turns. Despite this, he managed to finish in second place, just ahead of Ferrari's Charles Leclerc.
A major topic of conversation this year has centered on the front wing.
The FIA implemented stricter video inspections on flexible front wings during the Belgian Grand Prix after suspicions arose that Mercedes might be taking advantage of this aspect.
During a media session at Zandvoort on Sunday, which included representatives from Crash.net, Horner pointed out that McLaren and Mercedes have gained an edge in performance by focusing on their front wing.
“I believe the main question is where the other teams have gained an advantage. It seems that the front wing has been a crucial factor in their improved performance,” he remarked.
"The manner in which teams are utilizing their front wings appears to vary significantly. For instance, the front wing angles on McLaren and Mercedes cars are markedly distinct from each other and also from the rest of the teams on the grid."
Horner firmly believes that McLaren has set the standard and insists there are no quick fixes for Red Bull to overcome their present difficulties.
He stated, "At the moment, McLaren is the team to beat. Their speed has been evident in recent races. They showed strong performance in Hungary, while Mercedes was dominant at Spa. Specifically, Lando has been exceptionally impressive here."
"Their car is currently the quickest, without a doubt. We need to address this. It's not overly complicated; there's no magic solution in this field. It's about identifying the issue, tackling it head-on, and then applying the necessary corrections."
