**Christian Horner Clarifies “Childish” Remark Amid Verstappen-Hamilton Clash: A Deep Dive into Hungarian GP Radio Drama**
Christian Horner explains Max Verstappen's "childish" radio comment following an incident with Lewis Hamilton
Christian Horner discusses Gianpiero Lambiase's "childish" comment during the Hungarian Grand Prix.
Christian Horner has explained Gianpiero Lambiase's comment, which seemed to label Max Verstappen as "childish" after his incident with Lewis Hamilton at the Hungarian Grand Prix.
Max Verstappen expressed significant frustration about the outcome of his race, conveying his displeasure through team radio communications.
Verstappen’s continual complaints appeared to be testing the patience of his engineer, ‘GP’.
Following his clash with Hamilton at the first corner on the 63rd lap, Verstappen communicated over the team radio, exclaiming, "He changed his line while braking!"
GP responded, "Max, I'm not going to engage in a radio argument with the other teams. We'll allow the stewards to handle it. Arguing over the radio is just immature. Immature."
Horner has clarified Lambiase's statement, emphasizing that the "childish" comment was not aimed at Verstappen.
At the Hungarian event where Crash.net was in attendance, Horner mentioned, "I believe GP was not talking about Max at that moment, but rather addressing others who were complaining about penalties on the radio."
"I don't believe GP was referring to Max at that moment. It's clear that others are trying to provoke penalties since the stewards are also tuning into the radio conversations."
The team has been united for eight years, and while there were aspects of today's race that could have been improved, it is an issue we will address collectively.
Horner acknowledged that he comprehends Verstappen's concerns, and any disputes between him and his race engineer will be addressed privately within the team.
"Everyone recognizes the necessity to improve our performance, and all are striving diligently toward that goal. Any necessary conversations will take place privately," he mentioned.
"Max was feeling irritated. It's understandable since he has a straightforward way of communicating with his engineer. They'll sort it out privately."
A point of conversation was that Verstappen had been involved in sim racing until 3am.
The Dutch racer participated with Team Redline in a virtual 24-hour competition at Spa-Francorchamps.
This isn't the first occasion Verstappen has participated in a virtual race during a race weekend.
When questioned regarding Verstappen’s late night, Horner responded, “He is fully aware of what is needed for a grand prix, and we have confidence in his decision-making.”
