On Monday, officials in Golmud, located in Qinghai province, along with those in Jingyuan county in Gansu province, announced the establishment of dedicated task forces to probe into the matter.

"The findings of the investigation and the management of the case will be disclosed to the public promptly," stated the authorities in Golmud.

"Authorities will impose strict penalties on those accountable for the crimes, in accordance with the law."

The food safety committee of Jingyuan has released a comparable announcement.
