Charles Leclerc has voiced his frustration over Ferrari's performance, noting that they are falling behind their competitors.
The renowned Italian car maker has fallen behind Red Bull, McLaren, and Mercedes in the latest F1 rankings.
This season, both Leclerc and his teammate Carlos Sainz have secured grand prix victories. However, their current vehicles are not competitive enough to match their opponents.
Leclerc mentioned to The Gentleman’s Journal, "At the moment, we haven't achieved our desired level of performance, but we are putting in a lot of effort."
"I firmly believe that the future is promising due to our team's efforts and the manner in which we are operating."
"Given our current circumstances, I really wish we had a car capable of winning."
Sainz claimed victory in Australia, following up on his previous year's success in Singapore, making him the sole driver to break Red Bull’s streak of race wins.
Leclerc, with great emotion, ultimately secured victory at his home event, the Monaco Grand Prix.
In the latest races, McLaren and Mercedes have emerged as Red Bull's main rivals.
This year, Oscar Piastri, Lando Norris, Lewis Hamilton, and George Russell have each secured grand prix victories.
Ferrari gave Leclerc priority over Sainz earlier this year and secured him with a profitable long-term deal. Hamilton will be joining him in the team next year, both driving for Ferrari in red.
He stated that his goal, along with Ferrari, is to achieve the title of Formula 1 world champion.
"My sole interest lies with Ferrari – my attention is entirely on that for the moment."
Leclerc confessed that he never anticipated reaching his current position.
"My dad constantly emphasized how challenging it would be and how slim the chances are. Talent alone isn't enough to make it to Formula 1."
"There are many children with talent globally, but it takes a bit of fortune to be in the right spot at the right moment, along with having the right people to back you throughout the journey."
"I was fortunate to receive support from Ferrari early in my career, along with my manager's backing, which helped me reach my current position."
