**Charles Leclerc Cautions Ferrari Fans: Monza Win Not a Guarantee for Season-Long Dominance**
Charles Leclerc cautions that Ferrari's improvements are ‘insufficient’ to ‘secure victories for the remainder of the season.’
"Will it be enough to clinch wins for the rest of the season? I don't believe so just yet, though we have made significant progress."
Charles Leclerc has cautioned that Ferrari must improve their performance to regularly compete with McLaren throughout the rest of the 2024 F1 season.
Leclerc secured his second win of the season by using a one-stop strategy to outperform McLaren's Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris.
Prior to Piastri’s second pit stop, Leclerc trailed by five seconds, underscoring that McLaren boasted the fastest car at Monza.
Ferrari unveiled a major update for the Italian Grand Prix aimed at addressing their issues with car bouncing.
During the post-race FIA press conference at Monza, Leclerc advised Ferrari to "exercise caution."
"We need to exercise caution," he stated. "Following the Monaco race, I believe we've experienced the four most challenging events of the season, as Monaco's track conditions were uniquely suited to our car at that moment. Similarly, Monza has a very distinctive and unique circuit."
"There were many straight sections and few turns. We also had a rear wing designed for this track, which contributed to our victory today. Additionally, we implemented another upgrade that I believe has brought us closer to McLaren's performance. However, I don't think it's sufficient to make our car the dominant one for the rest of the season on different tracks."
"We still have plenty to accomplish, but I'm thrilled to have secured one here in Italy."
Although Leclerc has faced challenges since the Monaco race, he is only 24 points behind Norris in the drivers' standings.
In the constructors' standings, Ferrari is trailing Red Bull by only 39 points.
However, Leclerc has tempered aspirations, referencing comparable discussions about a title bid after his victory in Monaco.
"We performed exceptionally well this weekend, but the situation in Baku could be completely different, and the same goes for Singapore. We need to start fresh each time. We managed to reset ourselves from Monaco to Montreal, but as evidenced by the shift from Monaco to Montreal, there was a significant change from one weekend to the next."
"We then experienced three or four of the most challenging races of the season as we tried to figure out the issues with our car. I'm hopeful that we won't face such tough races again in the future, and I believe that won't happen."
"However, it's crucial to ensure that both the team and external expectations remain grounded and don't skyrocket from one race to the next, as that wouldn't be realistic."
"Have we made progress? Definitely. Is it sufficient to secure victories for the rest of the season? Not quite yet, but we have certainly made a positive advancement."
