Carlos Sainz Eyes 2026 Red Bull Seat: Navigating the F1 Transfer Carousel
Carlos Sainz aims for 2026 Red Bull move, considering a one-year interim agreement with another F1 competitor
Carlos Sainz is looking to become a part of Red Bull by 2026, but he needs to make another switch beforehand.
The driver from Ferrari will be replaced by Lewis Hamilton next year and is currently negotiating with various teams.
Gazzetta claims that securing the Red Bull seat in 2026 is his top goal.
Red Bull appears poised to extend Sergio Perez's tenure, whose existing agreement is set to end this year, by offering him a new one-year contract to continue partnering with Max Verstappen through 2025.
However, with the introduction of the new F1 rules in 2026, there's a chance the car might be back on the market, and Sainz is aiming to position himself advantageously.
Sainz has been in discussions with Mercedes for a potential 2025 deal, yet Toto Wolff has expressed a desire to postpone deciding on who will take over from Lewis Hamilton.
This presents Sainz with a couple of choices for the upcoming year.
Loyal fans of Audi are eager for him to sign up, especially now when they continue to operate under the Sauber name.
Audi shares a connection with him due to his father's victory in the Dakar Rally driving their vehicle.
However, the Sauber vehicle hasn't reached the level of leading competitors, and Audi is eager for Sainz to agree to an extended contract to lead their developing Formula 1 initiative.
Williams made his way to the front of the line to get Sainz's autograph last weekend in Monaco.
According to the Italian publication, Williams is considering extending Sainz a one-year contract that includes the possibility of an additional year.
This grants Sainz the option to either remain in his current position or seek a change in 2026 if he desires the seat at Red Bull.
Williams' partnership with the Mercedes power unit, which is speculated within the F1 circles to be the top choice under the new 2026 regulations, works to their advantage.
"Gazzetta maintains that a conclusion on Sainz's future action is imminent."
