Brad Pitt and Lewis Hamilton Team Up for High-Octane F1 Drama Set for 2025 Release
Brad Pitt to Star in F1 Film Produced by Lewis Hamilton, Set for Global Release in June 2025
The movie featuring Brad Pitt, centered around Formula 1 and co-produced by Lewis Hamilton, is set to premiere on June 25, 2025, under the Apple banner.
The upcoming movie, a joint venture between Apple Original Films and Formula 1, directed by Joseph Kosinski and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, is set for a global theater release on June 25, 2025. Audiences in North America can catch it in cinemas starting June 27, 2025. The title of the film has not been announced yet.
Brad Pitt is set to portray a retired racer making a comeback to Formula 1, with Damson Idris cast as his novice team member in the made-up team APXGP. Lewis Hamilton, a seven-time world champion, has taken on a producer role for the movie and contributed to the screenplay as well.
Production is scheduled to resume at the 2024 Formula 1 events following interruptions from the previous year's strike by Hollywood actors.
According to a press release from Formula 1, the film is a significant milestone both for the sport and the film industry, capturing events as they happen at various Grand Prix locations worldwide. It features the participation of the entire Formula 1 circle, encompassing all 10 teams, the drivers, the FIA, and those promoting the races.
The latest movie takes place in the thrilling and visually stunning universe of Formula 1, captivating viewers with the grandeur of this highly followed yearly sports event. It highlights the talent and bravery of the racers and illustrates the remarkable difficulty of competing in Formula 1.
In this upcoming film, Brad Pitt will portray an ex-racer making his comeback to Formula 1, co-starring with Damson Idris, who plays a new driver on his team at the imaginary APXGP, competing with the real stars and teams of the sport.
Filming for the film, initiated in 2023, is set to proceed during this year's British Grand Prix alongside multiple other races, concluding with the season finale at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in December.
Oscar recipient Javier Bardem is set to portray the owner of the APXGP team, with Kerry Condon and Tobias Menzies also included in the ensemble.
During his recent guest spot on the YouTube series Hot Ones, Hamilton discussed the project, stating, "I believe that it's extremely difficult to accurately portray racing movies.
Annually, there's a task where you're tasked with filming, tracking behind a truck equipped with a rear-mounted camera, making it challenging to accurately capture the velocity.
"Actually, it's impossible for a truck to chase us while filming at a speed of 200 miles per hour, so what they do is simulate the scene at a slower pace and then accelerate it in editing. However, this example we're discussing is happening live, at its actual speed."
Reflecting on the past, such as during the era of Steve McQueen, the approach to filming was quite different. Back in those days, it wasn't uncommon to see individuals positioned at the front of a car holding a camera, or even having a large camera mounted on a helmet. Nowadays, we're fortunate to have access to incredible advanced technology for these purposes.
"I genuinely believe that Joe [Kosinski] is going to astonish everyone with his work."
