Binder’s Rolling Burnout and Miller’s Last-Lap Heartbreak: Aragon MotoGP Drama Unfolds
Brad Binder exclaimed, "I experienced another rolling burnout!" Meanwhile, Jack Miller commented, "Rins got past me."
Brad Binder also mentioned, "I devised a solid strategy last night to avoid spinning out at the start…"
Brad Binder achieved his best MotoGP results since the season began in Qatar, securing 4th and 6th place finishes at the Aragon event.
This occurred even after he veered off the track in both races. Despite this, he managed to secure seventh place, starting from a relatively better position on a challenging grid.
Throughout the middle stages of the race, Binder trailed rookie Pedro Acosta. The competition between them turned into a fight for third place after Alex Marquez and Francesco Bagnaia collided with 5 laps remaining.
However, Acosta remained just beyond reach.
Binder smiled and said, "Last night, I came up with a solid strategy to avoid spinning out at the start, and I managed to do another rolling burnout just like I did yesterday!"
"I was able to navigate through and overtake several competitors. It was challenging to avoid errors as the front tire was overheating while trailing others, especially until the final segment of the race."
"I attempted to regain time when exiting corners since I couldn't enter them quickly due to the front overheating. However, this strategy backfired, leaving the left side of the tire completely worn out by the end."
“I put in my utmost effort to overtake Pedro, but there was no room left behind him!”
"Aside from that, we made several encouraging advances this weekend. We experimented with the bike's balance, and it appeared to be effective throughout the race."
Jack Miller, starting from 15th on the grid, made an impressive start and moved up to eighth place by the end of the first lap. However, the Australian rider quickly encountered issues with rear tire grip.
Following a last-lap defeat to Alex Rins for the ninth position, he was subsequently penalized with a 16-second post-race penalty for tyre pressure violations, which relegated him to 15th place.
“That was quite a lengthy race,” stated Miller. “The track conditions varied once more; it has been dirty for most of the weekend, but today it felt particularly slippery.
"I gave it my all. It was tough to manage the [medium] rear tire, and I experienced a major highside incident exiting the final turn."
"I found my pace and focused on maintaining it. There were several challenges transitioning from the edge to the center of the tire… but I managed to finish successfully."
"I didn't make any errors during the race, but I found it difficult to keep up with the guys ahead of me. We'll continue to push forward."
"I'm pleased to finish in the top ten, though Rins managed to overtake me on the back straight during the last lap. I tried my best to ride accurately, but I didn't get a good run, and he outpaced me down the stretch."
“We will return to Misano once more.”
This weekend, KTM's lineup will expand to five as test rider Pol Espargaro joins as another wild-card entry.
“Next, we’ll head to Misano, where we’ll also focus on the subsequent test and Pol’s wildcard entry, which should benefit us moving forward,” stated Francesco Guidotti, the team manager.
The initial Misano MotoGP race will commence with Binder trailing Acosta by three points, who currently occupies fifth place in the world championship standings.
Miller, who might be formally announced as a Pramac Yamaha rider at the team's home races in Italy, is currently in 15th place and just three points behind Monster Yamaha's Fabio Quartararo.
