**”Bagnaia Breaks Records Despite Feeling ‘Slow’ in Emilia Romagna MotoGP Practice”**
Francesco Bagnaia said he "felt slow" during practice for the Emilia Romagna MotoGP. The world champion reflected on his day of practice at Misano.
Francesco Bagnaia from Ducati mentioned that he "felt sluggish" during the Friday practice session for the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix in MotoGP, but found himself "impressed" by his lap timings.
The two-time world champion set a new lap record during Friday's practice session at MotoGP's return to Misano, surpassing current leader Jorge Martin with a time of 1m30.286s.
Additionally, Bagnaia – who secured the pole position during the initial Misano event – demonstrated outstanding race speed, positioning himself as a leading contender for the win alongside Martin this weekend.
Looking back on his day, Bagnaia commented, "I'm amazed by the lap time we achieved today, especially considering the track conditions this afternoon weren't ideal due to both the rear and front grip not being at their best."
"I noticed significant resistance and instability coming from the back when I was at the limit."
"However, our lap times were astonishing. I believe Jorge and I introduced a unique element that set us apart from the rest."
"Our speed is impressive and very quick with the medium rear, and the performance during the time attack was extraordinary.
"Feeling very pleased. Tomorrow should bring some improvements, although the cooler morning temperatures will make the time trial challenging. Nonetheless, overall I am satisfied."
Bagnaia mentioned that, even though his lap times were fast, he didn’t feel especially speedy. He also pointed out that he has been able to concentrate completely on riding this week since he has fully recovered from the injuries he sustained at the Aragon GP.
"I felt sluggish, yet the lap times were coming in because I believe I was very gentle with both the throttle and the brakes, and the bike was performing well," he stated.
"The only area where my speed dropped was in the center of the turn because the traction was not optimal."
"However, once I got on the bike, it had good traction. I was quite surprised to clock a time of 1 minute and 31.9 seconds on my initial run with medium tires."
"However, everything is fine now, and unlike two weeks ago, I can concentrate solely on adjusting the bike instead of worrying about managing pain in my body."
"This is having a significant impact on me."
The Ducati racer thinks it will be challenging to match his top lap time from Friday during qualifying due to anticipated cooler weather, and using the soft front tire is not going to be feasible.
When questioned about the impact of conditions on qualifying, he responded, "It will be significant. We can't use the soft front tires because they are too soft, causing considerable locking and instability in the high-speed corners."
"Therefore, we'll figure it out tomorrow, but I believe we might need an additional lap to properly heat up the front tire before accelerating."
