Aussie Supercars Eye Daniel Ricciardo: Will the F1 Star Shift Gears Down Under?
Australian motorsport series expresses desire to attract Daniel Ricciardo
"There is no doubt we would love to have Daniel Ricciardo compete in a Supercar."
A racing series in Daniel Ricciardo's home country of Australia is interested in him.
The Supercars Championship, a touring car series overseen by the FIA and located in Australia and New Zealand, is aware that Ricciardo is currently available.
The future plans for the seasoned Formula 1 driver remain uncertain after he was suddenly replaced by Liam Lawson in the RB racing team.
Daniel Ricciardo will not be participating in any more races this year and currently does not have a contract for the next F1 season, suggesting that his career in the sport might be coming to an end.
The CEO of Supercars, Shane Howard, is optimistic that introducing a street circuit in Perth in 2026 might attract Ricciardo.
Howard expressed to News Corp that he believes everyone would be more than happy to warmly receive Daniel.
"Absolutely, we would be thrilled to watch Daniel Ricciardo compete in a Supercar."
"Picture him driving one of our vehicles in a fresh street race taking place in Perth; now that would truly be remarkable, wouldn't it?"
"It would be incredibly significant."
"He is an amazing driver with a captivating personality, and people truly adore him."
"Picture him competing at Bathurst; that would be incredibly exciting."
"When the time is right, we will contact Daniel and his team."
"Clearly, he has many things happening in his life, and we acknowledge and respect that."
Blake Friend, along with his management team, was previously employed by our company.
"When the moment is appropriate, we will make contact, but we definitely want him driving one of our cars. We are fully committed to that."
Ricciardo has been secretive about his future plans.
In recent Formula 1 events, he has suggested that he is not interested in the idea of participating in a different racing series.
Currently, he finds himself without a position on an F1 racing team, and with limited chances of rejoining the lineup in 2025, he must decide if he should explore other opportunities.
