Audi intensifies its preparations for the 2026 F1 debut with a new strategic partner.
Audi is making further strides as they gear up for their 2026 entry into Formula 1.
Audi has revealed that BP will be their new "strategic partner" as they intensify their efforts in preparation for their entry into Formula 1 in 2026.
In 2026, BP, a leading company in the oil and energy sector, will provide Audi with completely sustainable fuels.
As part of the new engine regulations set for 2026, sustainable fuel will play a significant role in Formula 1.
BP, through its brand Castrol, will be providing lubricants and greases to Audi. Additionally, they have been collaborating with Alpine since 2017.
Audi is set to acquire the current Sauber team, which is currently in last place in the 2024 Formula 1 constructors' standings.
The specifics of their driver roster remain uncertain, although they have acquired Nico Hulkenberg from Haas.
The name of his teammate has not been revealed yet, though several potential candidates, such as Carlos Sainz and Esteban Ocon, have been mentioned.
Addressing recent developments, Audi CEO Andreas Seidl commented, “Audi and bp have had a fruitful collaboration in motorsport over the years. We are thrilled to elevate this unique partnership within the realm of Formula 1. Audi embodies the principle of ‘Vorsprung durch Technik,’ while bp and Castrol are committed to providing top-tier technologies in fuels and lubricants. This alliance is an ideal fit.”
"This early-stage partnership sends a powerful message about the future of Audi's F1 factory team."
"We recognize the allure of the Audi F1 Project and understand why numerous prominent firms are eager to collaborate with Audi in Formula 1."
Nicola Buck, Senior Vice President of Marketing at BP, expressed pride in Audi's decision to collaborate with BP and Castrol for their Formula 1 debut. She highlighted that this partnership allows their high-end brands to demonstrate their technical prowess in the top tier of motorsport.
"We are advancing rapidly with the Audi F1 Project, focusing on creating bp fuel and Castrol lubricants to enhance and maximize the engine performance of the Audi F1 Power Unit for the 2026 season."
