Alpine finalizes their roster by giving an opportunity to a newcomer
Alpine has announced that Jack Doohan will join their F1 team as a driver for the upcoming season.
Doohan, who is the son of famed motorcycle racer Mick Doohan, serves as Alpine's test and reserve driver at present.
He is set to take Esteban Ocon's place in the 2025 Formula 1 driver roster and will join Pierre Gasly as Alpine aims for a more successful season.
At 21 years old, Doohan is set to follow in the footsteps of Daniel Ricciardo and Oscar Piastri as the next Australian driver in Formula 1.
Doohan has been with Alpine for a period of two years and, as a member of their young driver program, has participated in FP1 sessions in Formula 1 using their vehicle.
Alpine is experiencing significant changes, with Oliver Oakes stepping in as the new team leader and Flavio Briatore rejoining the F1 scene as a special consultant for the team.
Alpine undergoes significant overhaul
Doohan expressed his excitement, saying, “It’s an incredible feeling to earn a full-time racing position with the BWT Alpine F1 Team for the 2025 season.”
"I deeply appreciate the confidence and faith shown by the team's top executives."
"There is a significant amount of preparation needed, and I am committed to doing my utmost to learn and gather all necessary information to be ready for the next level."
"It feels incredibly rewarding to be the inaugural graduate from the Alpine Academy to secure a racing position with the team, and I am deeply grateful to everyone who helped me achieve this milestone."
"This is a thrilling time and a significant day for my family. I am eager to fully embrace it and work diligently in the background."
New team leader Oakes expressed enthusiasm about elevating Jack to the race seat starting next season, providing him a chance to demonstrate his abilities and talent in Formula 1.
"Jack is set to be the first driver to move up from the Alpine Academy to a race driver role with the team, which is extremely satisfying for both the team and its developmental program for young drivers."
"I collaborated with Jack in 2019 and can attest to his exceptional talent and potential."
"His dedication and efforts behind the scenes are greatly appreciated by everyone on the team."
“With Pierre on the team, we have a driver roster that strikes a perfect balance, blending youthful vigor, seasoned expertise, and raw speed.”
“We are excited about collaborating with Jack and Pierre to continue improving the car and elevate the team’s position in the standings.”
