Jack Doohan is set to join the F1 lineup as Alpine's new driver next year, the team announced.
Doohan, who serves as Alpine's test and reserve driver, is the son of famed motorcycle racer Mick Doohan.
He is set to take Esteban Ocon's place in the 2025 F1 driver roster, partnering with Pierre Gasly as Alpine aims for a more successful season.
At 21 years old, Doohan is the latest Australian to join the ranks of Formula 1 drivers, following in the footsteps of Daniel Ricciardo and Oscar Piastri
Doohan has been associated with Alpine for a couple of years, participating in their young driver program and taking part in FP1 sessions in Formula 1 using their vehicle.
Alpine is experiencing significant changes, with Oliver Oakes stepping in as the new team principal and Flavio Briatore making a comeback to Formula 1 as their special advisor.
Alpine undergoes significant restructuring
Doohan expressed his joy, stating, "I am thrilled to confirm my advancement to a full-time racing position with the BWT Alpine F1 Team in 2025."
