Alpine A110 R Ultime (2024): Der Preis sprengt alle Vierzylinder-Rekorde
The 2024 Alpine A110 R Ultime comes with a staggering price tag.
It's possibly the most expensive four-cylinder vehicle ever…
It seems like yet another sign that new car prices are spiraling out of control. Here's a four-cylinder car that's priced on par with a high-performance supercar.
It's unclear exactly how many A110 limited edition versions Alpine has released over time, but this latest one is the ultimate offering. The swan song for the mid-engine coupe has arrived, and it's priced at an absurd 330,000 Euros. Yes, that's for a four-cylinder.
Alpine A110 R Ultimate Edition
The already intense A110 R has been upgraded with the Ultimate package, similar to the last edition of the Renault Megane RS Ultimate. It shares the turbocharged 1.8-liter petrol engine with this model. While the hatchback version produced a mere 300 horsepower, the engine in this enhanced four-cylinder model has been boosted to 345 horsepower. However, the torque remains unchanged at 420 Nm.
The French Cayman is enhanced by a launch control feature that allows it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds. It incorporates a tweaked dual-clutch automatic transmission to handle the increased power, considering the previous top A110 model had a maximum torque of 340 Nm, which is 80 Nm less. Intriguingly, Alpine mentions that the transmission is a "DW6" type, indicating a six-speed gearbox rather than the typical seven-speed automatic found in the A110.

The high-priced sports coupe aims to justify its steep price tag by featuring adjustable Öhlins shock absorbers at each wheel and an Akrapovič titanium exhaust system. Additionally, the A110 R Ultime is equipped with upgraded brakes that include 330-mm AP racing discs complemented by different brake pads and cooling ducts.
The final cheer for the agile sports car comes on forged 18-inch front and 19-inch rear wheels, encased in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires. A menacing-looking body kit serves a practical purpose, increasing downforce by 160 kilograms at top speed compared to the A110 R Turini.
Additional Information on Alpine:
The staggering cost we initially referenced applies to the A110 R Ultime La Bleue, a car so exclusive that merely 15 units will be produced. This vehicle is essentially a special version within a special edition, showcasing two shades of blue: Alpine Vision Blue and Abysse Blue. The interior is adorned with Poltrona Frau and blue Sabelt leather. The standard model has a price tag of "only" €265,000 in France, in contrast to the entry-level A110, which is priced around four times lower at €65,000.
The total production is capped at 110 units. At the Paris Motor Show in 2024, Alpine will unveil the La Bleue version alongside the R290 electric hatchback sedan, the A390 crossover, and the Alpenglow Hy6 concept featuring a hydrogen-fueled six-cylinder combustion engine.
