Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer Xpeng has revealed affordable car models priced below $17,000.
On August 27, 2024, Xpeng, a Chinese maker of electric vehicles, introduced a range of affordable models that come with basic self-driving capabilities.
The Mona M03 vehicles have a starting price of 119,800 yuan (approximately US$16,800), and they can cover a minimum distance of 515 kilometers (around 320 miles) when fully charged.
Customers applauded the model for delivering a performance comparable to more expensive vehicles, and some of the company's sales representatives expressed their aspirations that these new cars would attract a younger demographic.
The model is anticipated to rival vehicles produced by another Chinese company, BYD, which currently stands as the world's biggest EV manufacturer.
