Unplugged Performance Rolls Out a High-Powered Tesla Model S Plaid for LA County Sheriff’s Community Program
The Tesla Model S Plaid has been enlisted for law enforcement purposes
Unplugged Performance will showcase a Tesla patrol vehicle, courtesy of its UP.FIT sector, at the 2024 SEMA event in Las Vegas. The focus this time is on the Model S Plaid stepping into the police force role.
The Plaid model is scheduled for distribution to a Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department public service initiative. It has been equipped with an updated wiring system to accommodate police lights installed behind the front and back windows and by the side skirts. This setup is intended to reduce the air resistance typically caused by traditional light bars, as per the information from Unplugged Performance.
Additional gear for law enforcement comprises a ramming guard, sirens with varying pitches, and a loudspeaker system. Despite the added heft, Unplugged Performance forecasts only a minimal decrease in travel distance to 345 miles, in contrast to the regular Plaid's 359 miles.
Unplugged Performance's modified Tesla Model S Plaid for law enforcement use.
The specialized Plaid model designed for law enforcement comes with the original three-motor, all-wheel drive system that produces 1,020 horsepower, enabling it to go from 0 to 60 mph in just 1.9 seconds as per Tesla's information. However, Unplugged Performance has enhanced the braking system and fitted the vehicle with lighter rims.
Unplugged Performance has crafted a Tesla Cybertruck specifically for law enforcement use, and it was handed over to the police force in Irvine, California, earlier this year. When it comes to electric vehicles for police use, California is at the forefront. There's already a police department in the state that operates solely with electric vehicles, boasting a fleet that includes 10 Tesla Model 3s and an equal number of Model Ys.
I
Unplugged Performance's custom Tesla Model S Plaid transformed into a police vehicle.
A new study has revealed that various police departments in California are encountering problems with their Tesla Model 3 and Model Y patrol cars, even those enhanced by Unplugged Performance. The challenges include a lack of adequate room inside the vehicles and obstacles in obtaining maintenance and repair services for these custom-modified units. This is partially due to Tesla not providing a dedicated police modification option directly from the manufacturer.
The fact that law enforcement agencies are investing in Tesla vehicles adapted for police use by third-party modifiers indicates a shortage of suitable alternatives. Ford, a traditional supplier for police vehicles, provides a law enforcement edition of its F-150 Lightning and has also provided the Mustang Mach-E to the NYPD for their fleet. Meanwhile, Stellantis is signaling its plans to introduce the Dodge Charger Daytona as a law enforcement vehicle, taking over from the previous generation gas-powered Charger.

2025 Kia Niro EV Holds Steady at $40,975: More Bang for Your Buck with New Standard Features
The price of the 2025 Kia Niro EV remains at $40,975, even though it now comes with additional equipment included as standard, maintaining the price point of the previous year's model.
The starting cost for the basic model of the Niro EV Wind remains at $40,975, which accounts for the $1,375 fee for delivery. In 2025, the Wind will be upgraded with a bigger 10.25-inch digital display for the dashboard and will transition to using a dial-type gear selector.
2025 Version of Kia's Electric Niro Vehicle
The premium version of the Wave is priced at $45,975, including delivery charges. In the 2025 model, features such as blind-spot monitoring, an adjustable 10-way power seat for the front passenger, and a head-up display are now included as basic offerings. Additionally, the options now feature a rear parking collision avoidance system and a semi-automated Smart Park Assist for parking assistance.
The Niro EV maintains a range of 253 miles as estimated by the EPA, powered by a 64.8-kWh battery. It comes equipped with an 11-kW onboard charger, enabling it to fully recharge in approximately seven hours using a Level 2 AC charging station. Additionally, it supports DC fast charging at a peak rate of 85 kW, which allows it to charge from 10% to 80% in roughly 45 minutes.
2025 Model of Kia's Electric Niro Vehicle
A lone magnet-based engine delivers a power of 201 horses and a torque of 188 pounds-feet to the Niro EV's front tires. According to Kia, this allows the electric vehicle to accelerate from a standstill to 62 miles per hour in 7.8 seconds. Upon evaluating the present model of the Niro EV, it was observed that while the car struggles slightly with grip when joining highways at higher speeds, it generally performs with both speed and silence under different driving scenarios.
Kia maintains its hybrid and plug-in hybrid options for the Niro, priced at $28,365 and $35,865 for the 2025 models. These three versions of the Niro act as introductory models for their particular engine types within Kia's range, positioned beneath the larger Kia EV6 and EV9 models. Yet, earlier reports this year suggested that the upcoming Kia EV3, set to be manufactured in Mexico, will aim for a lower price of $30,000, potentially offering a more affordable alternative to the Niro.

Toyota Challenges California’s EV Mandate as “Impossible,” Signals Renewed Emissions Battle
Toyota expressed on Friday that meeting the EV requirements led by California is unattainable
The car manufacturer hinted at a fresh wave of resistance towards California's power to impose tighter emission regulations and phase out petrol vehicle sales.
During a digital discussion with CNBC and various press outlets, Jack Hollis, the Chief Operating Officer of Toyota North America, expressed doubt about meeting California's mandate. The state requires that by 2026, 35% of new vehicles in states adhering to California's guidelines must be electric, as part of a broader initiative to phase out the majority of new internal-combustion engine vehicles by 2035. "At this point, it looks impossible," stated Hollis.
Upcoming Lexus RZ Model Set for
The CARB, responsible for determining California's emission regulations, has reported that an additional 12 states and Washington D.C. have adopted its more stringent guidelines. However, Hollis contends that the market demand is insufficient to meet these objectives and that it's causing automakers to unnaturally distribute a higher number of electric vehicles to states adhering to California's standards.
The remarks stand out predominantly due to the period in which they've been made. Toyota, who previously contested California's autonomy in establishing tougher emissions benchmarks, reached a détente with the California Air Resources Board (CARB) in 2022. Since then, there hasn't been much alteration in CARB's primary regulations on emissions for cars and trucks, and the market's interest in electric vehicles seems to have surged compared to six to twelve months prior. However, with Donald Trump securing a second term, it seems Toyota is reinvigorated to challenge the regulations once more.
2025 Model of Toyota RAV4 with Plug-In Hybrid Feature
Toyota, accompanied by GM, the predecessor of Stellantis, and multiple international car manufacturers, had made an attempt under the former Trump administration to revoke California's power to impose its own vehicle emissions regulations. Conversely, Ford, Honda, BMW, VW, and Volvo chose not to challenge California's emission regulation authority and partnered with the state to reach an agreement.
Toyota has consistently focused on increasing their hybrid car production rather than electric vehicles (EVs). On the other hand, General Motors (GM) has made confusing decisions. They've been trying to subtly obstruct California's regulations while openly aiming for a future that solely consists of electric vehicles, sans hybrids. This strategy has drawn criticism from Trump, who doesn't believe the plan is viable.

Jeep 2025: Elektrische Revolution und persönliche Erfahrung – Ein Blick auf die Zukunft mit Compass, Recon und Wagoneer S
To enhance a more individualized experience
Jeep is gearing up for an electrified future with a preview of their 2025 lineup. The lineup includes the latest iteration of the Compass, which will continue to be offered with traditional combustion engines, alongside the introduction of the Recon and the Wagoneer S. Jeep is charging ahead with electric propulsion, planning to roll out three electric-powered vehicles by 2025. The Recon, an SUV sporting the classic off-road design, and the Wagoneer S, with a more refined appearance but packing a powerful 600-horsepower engine, are part of the American brand's forward-thinking strategy.
The latest Jeep Compass model is set to be built on the STLA Medium platform, a base it shares with the likes of the Peugeot 3008 and Opel Grandland. This new foundation will allow the upcoming generation of the Compass to come in both hybrid and fully electric options, including versions with four-wheel drive.
The initial sneak peek at the latest Jeep Compass has been unveiled.
Specific technical details have yet to be disclosed, but drawing from comparable models, it's anticipated that the lineup will include a 1.2-liter mild-hybrid gasoline engine delivering 136 horsepower, a plug-in hybrid at 195 horsepower, and electric variants with power outputs of 213 and 231 horsepower. The latter is expected to feature a 96.9 kWh battery, offering a projected WLTP range of about 700 kilometers. Taking a cue from the Peugeot E-3008, there's also an all-wheel-drive electric option producing 326 horsepower that would seamlessly integrate into the prospective Compass series.
Regarding the styling, the only teaser available presents a side view of the upcoming Compass, which appears to maintain the dimensions of the present model. The latest Jeep is expected to roll off the assembly line in Melfi, Italy, in 2025, with sales potentially kicking off in the latter half of that year.
Jeep Recon
It's not the electric version of the Wrangler, yet it bears a significant resemblance. The launch of the Jeep Recon, initially slated for 2023, will eventually happen in 2025. It is expected to retain much of the design aesthetic from the concept stage.
Jeep Recon Model
The vehicle will feature a fabric roof and doors that can be taken off, similar to the Wrangler. It's also expected to come with the Select-Terrain system, which allows for locking differentials and selecting among various driving modes.
The Jeep Wagoneer S measures 4.89 meters in length, essentially positioning itself as the electric counterpart to the Grand Cherokee. Constructed on the STLA Large platform, it boasts a peak power output of 600 horsepower and 836 Newton-meters of torque, achieving an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds. Moreover, it offers a nearly 500 km driving range based on the American EPA cycle, which is generally considered more reflective of real-world conditions compared to the WLTP standard.
Jeep Wagoneer S Model
The battery is expected to have a 100 kWh capacity at 400 volts, and it's likely to incorporate NMC cells, although further details have yet to be released. Charging times are anticipated to allow a state of charge increase from 5% to 80% in roughly 28 minutes. Additionally, authentic Jeep performance is anticipated, complete with four-wheel drive and driving modes tailored for off-road conditions.

VW Tayron vs. Hyundai Santa Fe: Das Großfamilien-Duell der Hybrid-SUVs

Volkswagen Tayron vs. Hyundai Santa Fe: The Battle of Seven-Seater SUVs
We're taking a closer look at these two large family vehicles that are both equipped with hybrid engines and an array of technology…
Among the top choices for family SUVs are the Volkswagen Tayron and the Hyundai Santa Fe. Both offer hybrid powertrains and have seating for up to seven passengers. They also come loaded with advanced technological features. The primary distinction comes down to styling: the Tayron opts for a more traditional look, while the Santa Fe takes a more modern, cutting-edge approach. To really get to know what sets these competitors apart, a detailed comparison is in order.
Size and Style
The VW Tayron stretches an additional 24 centimeters beyond the Tiguan, yet falls 13 centimeters shy of the Touareg's length, and is distinguished by its sleek, aerodynamic profile.
The darkly tinted wheel arches add to the vehicle's sleek appearance, with wheels available in sizes ranging from 17 to 20 inches. The Tayron's front end is characterized by the illuminated VW emblem, and an LED strip linking the headlights aims to enhance the overall design. At the rear, the logo and the LED strip continue the modern (yet traditional) aesthetic.
The Tayron's R-Line model is equipped with an athletic front bumper. A unique package offers black accents as a substitute for the standard chrome.
The latest Santa Fe model continues to utilize the foundational structure of its predecessor but features significant updates. It has been extended by 4.5 centimeters, reaching a total length of 4.83 meters. The width and height measure at 1.90 meters and 1.72 meters respectively, with a wheelbase spanning 2.81 meters.
Aside from its dimensions, what really stands out is its aesthetic appeal. The Santa Fe boasts an edginess that's rare among competitors, with bold, assertive contours that hark back to the realm of SUVs. The rear end is notably intriguing with its ultra-low, horizontally aligned lights.
Despite the boxy shapes, Hyundai has paid attention to aerodynamic details, incorporating a pair of adjustable components at the front that shift their angle to enhance the vehicle's efficiency. The wheels measure 21 inches in diameter, and there's a palette of color options, including the "Earth Brass Metallic Matte," which is a deep, matte-finished orange.
Interior
The VW Tayron, having a wheelbase that extends an extra 10 centimeters beyond the Tiguan's, allows for the inclusion of an optional foldable third row of seating into the trunk space. The room available for those seated in the far back is quite respectable, though it does lack dedicated ventilation outlets. However, passengers will find storage compartments and charging ports for convenience.
The cargo space differs depending on whether the vehicle is set up with five or seven seats. In the five-seater version, there's a capacity of 885 liters, dropping to 705 liters for the plug-in hybrid variant. Opting for the seven-seater configuration, the space decreases slightly to 850 liters, and further diminishes to 345 liters if the third row is in use. The maximum volume one can expect is 2,090 liters, although for the plug-in hybrid, it's a bit less at 1,905 liters. It's important to note that the plug-in model does not come with a seven-seat option.
The second row of seating has its own climate control system, storage compartments behind the seats, a center armrest equipped with cup and tablet holders, and sunshades built into the door panels.
The dashboard of the Volkswagen boasts a central display measuring 12.9 inches, with higher trims featuring a 15-inch screen. The digital instrument cluster consistently spans 10.25 inches. Nestled on the center console is a spacious compartment and a pair of wireless charging pads. Additionally, there's a versatile rotary knob that adjusts volume, driving modes, and interior lighting ambiance. Depending on the chosen trim level, the interior lighting can be customized with a choice of 10 or 30 colors.
Customers can experience enhanced comfort with options for ventilated and heated seating, alongside a newly introduced massage system. The craftsmanship of materials and paneling exudes a sense of luxury and meticulous maintenance.
The Santa Fe features a design that emphasizes both soft, eco-friendly fabrics and a stark minimalist look, similar to other models from the Korean brand. The dashboard is highlighted by a pair of side-by-side 12.3-inch screens, with a third screen located in the center console devoted solely to climate control, which can also be adjusted via physical controls.
Also located in the center console are a pair of wireless charging pads and two sizable cup holders, with a spacious storage compartment situated below.
The option to have seven seats is available as an add-on, and the cargo space is quite spacious ranging from 711 liters when the third row is folded down to 2,032 liters.
Powertrains
The Tayron comes in various power levels. There's the 1.5 TSI mild-hybrid gasoline engine producing 150 horsepower, the 1.5 TSI plug-in hybrid offering both 204 and 272 horsepower, and the 2.0 TDI delivering 150 horsepower. Only the diesel variant is available with all-wheel drive. In all instances, the engines are paired with a 7-speed DSG transmission, while the 6-speed DSG is exclusive to the plug-in hybrid models.
The Santa Fe's selection is slightly more limited, offering a 1.6 full hybrid gasoline engine with 215 horsepower and 367 Nm of torque, paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. Buyers still have the option to choose between front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive models. Additionally, there's a plug-in hybrid version available that delivers 252 horsepower while maintaining the same torque, which comes exclusively with all-wheel drive.

Costs
The starting cost for the Tayron with a 150 HP mild hybrid in the Life trim is €45,475, stretching up to €61,355 for the high-end R-Line model equipped with a 272 HP plug-in hybrid.
The starting cost for the Santa Fe hybrid in the Prime trim level is set at €56,700 for the model that seats five, with the seven-seater variant coming in at a minimum of €60,250. The plug-in hybrid version, which is at the top end and comes in the Blackline edition, is priced from €68,150.

Audi’s Shift to SUVs: Goodbye to Fun Cars and Hello to Profitable Trends
To enhance a more individualized experience
Goodbye to Thrill Rides: Audi Decides Against Reviving Fun-Focused Cars
The thrill of driving takes a backseat as Audi focuses on more profitable SUVs
Audi's German website showcases an impressive lineup of 12 SUVs, ranging from the compact Q2 to the expansive Q8, catering to a diverse clientele with offerings in petrol, diesel, plug-in hybrid, and electric variants. However, those looking to design their joyride won't find what they're looking for; the TT and R8 models have been relegated to history.
The brand has no plans to address these shortcomings anytime soon. The reason? The market for sports cars continues to dwindle, while the demand for SUVs persists, even after decades of growth. According to Carsales magazine, Audi Australia's product planner Peter Strudwieke stated, "I believe Audi is always monitoring global market trends. That's why SUVs have been gaining traction in recent years. And right now, they're still gaining ground."
Photo Gallery: Audi TT (1999) Reviewed
He continues to say that the Sportback versions of certain Q series models retain some of the sports car essence. However, the sad truth is that these SUVs are usually just styling tweaks on existing crossovers. Squashed SUVs can hardly be considered a substitute for the TT, let alone the mid-engine R8. Additionally, other somewhat unique models are missing from the lineup, as the new A5 will no longer come in two-door versions. This signifies that Audi will no longer sell coupes or convertibles.
Meanwhile, back at Audi's headquarters in Ingolstadt, it's business as usual. Later this month, the company plans to unveil the next-generation Q5 Sportback, a pricier and less practical variant that competes with BMW's X3. However, not all of their SUVs are sticking around; the compact Q2 is being discontinued after just one generation. Moreover, Audi intends to sell its factory in Brussels and halt production of the Q8 e-tron and its sportback counterpart due to disappointing sales figures.
Audi has recently partnered with SAIC in China to launch a brand confusingly called AUDI, which plans to roll out three models starting in 2025. Common sense suggests that at least one of these will be an SUV, although the initial AUDI E Concept has the appearance of an oversized station wagon.
2014 Audi TT Offroad Concept
If Audi ever makes the decision to reintroduce the TT model, it wouldn't be surprising to see it return as a crossover. After all, there's a precedent for this. A decade ago, Audi presented the TT Offroad concept, envisioning an SUV that ultimately never came to fruition. That same year, they proposed a TT Sportback, intended to be a sleek four-door sedan, but it too failed to materialize.
The strong consumer appetite for SUVs isn't the sole factor delaying the production of sports cars. Audi Australia's head, Jeff Mannering, points out that the company needs to exercise caution with its spending on new developments in 2024 due to the tough economic environment. He also cited ongoing turmoil in the Middle East and Ukraine as contributing elements.
Additional from Audi:
Audi is currently facing challenges, with sales declining by 10.9% until September. The profit plummeted by 91% in the third quarter. Additionally, its parent company, Volkswagen Group, is aggressively looking to cut costs, which means that launching a low-volume sports car would not be beneficial under these circumstances.

The Fiat Ducato Easy Pro (2025) introduces two fresh entry-level models
Competitor to the Sprinter and popular as a motorhome foundation, prices now commence from approximately 37,600 Euros
The Fiat Ducato, known not only as a competitor to the Sprinter but also as a preferred commercial vehicle and a common choice for motorhome conversions, has recently undergone updates. The latest model year for the Fiat Ducato is now available for order in Germany as a panel van.
The program now includes the new entry-level model, the Fiat Ducato Easy Pro. This model option, available with a medium wheelbase and either a standard roof (L2H1) or a high roof (L2H2), aims to appeal to buyers with its highly competitive price point. The Fiat Ducato Easy Pro comes exclusively with a pre-configured setup, a six-speed manual transmission, and the base engine option (88 kW/120 horsepower), with pricing beginning at 37,604 euros.
Image Gallery: Fiat Ducato (2024)
The latest Fiat Ducato offers a selection of three wheelbase options along with body lengths ranging from L2 to L4 and heights from H1 to H3. This configuration allows for a cargo space ranging from 10 to 17 cubic meters and a payload capacity of up to 2,020 kilograms. Depending on the model, the total permissible weight ranges from 2,800 kilograms for the Fiat Ducato Easy Pro to 4,250 kilograms for the Fiat Ducato Maxi. The body styles available include solid, semi-glazed, and fully glazed versions.
For the latest model year, the Fiat Ducato offers an option for specialized all-season Bridgestone tires in a 16-inch size. The dimensions and load index are the same as the standard tires, but these new tires enhance the vehicle's CO2 efficiency rating from C to B. Standard features include rear parking sensors, various assistance systems, a 5-inch color display with digital radio, and a manual air conditioning system. Numerous packages are available to bundle optional extras according to individual requirements.
Additional updates from the commercial vehicle sector:
The latest Fiat Ducato is powered by contemporary 2.2-liter Multijet turbo diesel engines. Customers can choose from three power options – 120 horsepower (88 kW), 140 horsepower (103 kW), or 180 horsepower (132 kW). Depending on the model, there is an option of a six-speed manual transmission or an eight-speed automatic transmission, although the latter isn't available for the 120 horsepower version. All engine variants comply with the Euro 6E emission standards.

The new-age 4 model strikes a balance between a snug footprint and ample interior space, with generous luggage capacity to boot.
Length: Measuring at 4.14 meters.
Width: 1.80 meters
Height stands at 1.57 meters.
Wheelbase: 2.62 meters
Trunk space: 420 liters / not applicable.
Renault's "Operation Nostalgia" adds another piece to its collection with the revival of the R4. Following the 5 E-Tech Electric, the French automaker is revamping another iconic model, this time updating it with electric propulsion.
The Renault 4 E-Tech Electric presents itself as a slightly larger option compared to the Renault 5, filling a similar position to the Captur within Renault's electric lineup. It features a retro-inspired design and a decent amount of space for its category.
Renault 4 E-Tech: Dimensions
The size specifications of the Renault 4 E-Tech position this French crossover squarely within the competitive B-segment. It measures 4.14 meters in length, which is slightly longer than the Clio by nine centimeters, yet eight centimeters shorter than the Captur. Its width stands at 1.80 meters. The vehicle's height is a notable 1.57 meters, setting it above the class average, and it boasts a rather spacious wheelbase of 2.62 meters.
Side View of the 2024 Renault 4 E-Tech
It's also worth noting the ground clearance of 18.1 cm, which theoretically should allow the Renault to handle mild off-road terrain with ease, reminiscent of the classic model's capabilities. The unpainted plastic on the bumpers could contribute to this rugged functionality.
Renault 4 E-Tech: Interior Space/Trunk Size
The R4's extended wheelbase provides a surprisingly spacious interior for its overall size. While the rear seat comfortably accommodates two passengers, the legroom is slightly less than what competitors offer. Additionally, the floor is raised due to the battery placement, resulting in less support for the thighs on the seats.
Renault 4 E-Tech, a misfortune with a 420-liter capacity
The storage capacity of the Renault 4 E-Tech's trunk totals 420 liters, complemented by an extra storage compartment of 35 liters beneath the floor panel. However, folding down the seats creates an uneven surface. The vehicle features a wide rear hatch and a lowered loading edge by 61 cm, making it easier to access the cargo area, which also includes side pockets for smaller items.
Renault 4 E-Tech Faces Stiff Competition
The Renault 4 E-Tech is not without its rivals. The B-segment electric vehicle market boasts a plethora of options, particularly from the global giant Stellantis. We've compared some of the key models in the chart below.
Additional News from Renault:
Included in this group are the electric version of the Fiat 600 and the Opel Mokka. Other competitors include the Volvo EX30 and the Jeep Avenger, which is already available as a 4×4 with all-wheel drive.

Honda Charges into the Future with EV Fun Concept: A Glimpse into Electric Performance Motorcycles by 2025
Honda reveals initial concept for high-performance electric bike
On Tuesday, Honda showcased a concept for an electric motorcycle tailored for high performance, indicating the company's sustained focus on electric innovation for motorcycles.
A glimpse into the future model set for a 2025 release, the Honda EV Fun concept is designed to offer "a unique and exhilarating experience that stands apart from traditional gasoline-powered motorcycles," as stated in a press announcement.
Conceptual design for an electric vehicle
An unspecified capacity battery offers a potential distance of 62 miles, presumably based on Japan's assessment methods, and supports recharging through a Combined Charging Standard (CCS) port. Honda, in collaboration with allied firms that make up 50% of the worldwide motorcycle market, has committed to establishing a uniform protocol for interchangeable batteries, which could potentially allow riders to avoid charging at home or queuing for rapid charging stations.
Until this point, Honda has hinted at focusing on converting mopeds, scooters, and the more utilitarian motorcycles to electric power first. However, the EV Fun concept particularly highlights the possibility that it could swiftly tackle the high-end sport bike segment.
Honda's Electric Vehicle Enjoyment Design
Previous attempts to market electric motorcycles as performance-oriented sport bikes did not meet with much success; brands like Brammo and Lightning are examples of this lack of market traction. However, the impressive performance of the Harley-Davidson LiveWire in the high-end electric motorcycle segment suggests there is potential for these bikes in the industry.
In a recent announcement, Honda revealed its plans to gradually enter the worldwide electric bike market, aiming to extend its efforts beyond 2026. This move is consistent with previous remarks made in 2022, where Honda promised to introduce 10 new electric motorcycle models by 2025, with a model designed specifically for children included in the lineup. Given Honda's origins in producing petrol engines for bicycles, followed by manufacturing entire motorcycles prior to evolving into a car manufacturer, it seems appropriate that motorcycles will be a significant aspect of its strategy towards electrification. The question remains, what will the sound of Honda's future electric motorcycles be?

Karma Automotive Unveils Exclusive Invictus: A High-Performance Revero Variant Limited to 30 Units
Karma Automotive has introduced a new performance version of its enduring Revero plug-in hybrid, named Karma Invictus.
The Karma Invictus is an enhanced performance variant of the Revero, with production capped at only 30 vehicles. Details on pricing and when it will be available for delivery will be disclosed in the future.
Karma has revealed an improved acceleration time for their vehicle, clocking in at 3.9 seconds to reach 60 mph from a standstill, a notable improvement of over half a second compared to the Revero model. However, there doesn't seem to be any enhancement in the performance of the existing powertrain, which is comprised of a BMW-derived 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine, a pair of electric motors, and a 28-kWh battery pack. In the Revero configuration, this combination delivers 536 horsepower and 550 pound-feet of torque, and it's touted to achieve an electric-only range of 80 miles. These acceleration and electric range statistics remain unchanged from what Karma previously advertised in 2021 for the vehicle back when it was known as the GS-6.
Destiny Undefeated
The enhanced speed capabilities may be attributed to a lighter frame, given that the Invictus boasts a carbon fiber construction for its hood, roof, trunk, and the front fenders that feature air-relieving vents as per Karma's statement. Additionally, the carbon fiber composition extends to the rear spoiler and side skirts, and the cabin is adorned with a design reminiscent of the Chrysler Building's Art Deco style.
The Invictus boasts an athletic suspension setup, incorporating shock absorbers from the renowned Swedish brand Öhlins and springs from Swift, which, as per Karma, offers sharper and more accurate handling, better traction, and more consistent performance when navigating corners or driving on irregular terrain. Additionally, the vehicle's 21-inch rims come equipped with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires, further amplifying its road-holding capabilities.
Unconquerable Fate
A decade ago, Karma emerged from the acquisition of Fisker Automotive's assets by the Chinese auto components manufacturer Wanxiang Group, after the original enterprise founded by Henrik Fisker went bankrupt, prior to the creation of the current Fisker Inc., known for the fully electric Ocean SUV. Over the years, Karma's progress has been inconsistent, with a variety of vehicles in the pipeline from high-end sedans to industrial vehicles, though not all have materialized.
Karma Automotive's mainstay vehicle has been the Revero, originally stemming from the Fisker Karma's blueprint, which was known as an attractive eco-friendly vehicle even before the Tesla Model S came into the picture. The vehicle has undergone a series of transformations, including a rebranding from Revero to GS-6, and then reverting to the Revero name. Although Karma has unveiled several concept vehicles lately, such as the Ivara SUV, it will be some time before these enter the manufacturing phase.

Mazda Accelerates Electrification: In-House Hybrid for CX-5 and Dedicated Electric SUV by 2027
Mazda announced on Thursday that it is focusing on expanding its internal development of electric and hybrid powertrains, with plans to introduce an all-electric SUV by 2027 and a CX-5 hybrid currently in the works.
Following the release of the entry-level MX-30 crossover, now ceased in the U.S., available as both electric and with an extended range, Mazda has collaborated with other companies for electric vehicle technology. The 2025 model year will see a hybrid variant of the CX-50 crossover SUV, equipped with a hybrid system from Toyota, and the EZ-6 electric sedan is a joint effort with China's Changan Automobile.
Mazda's strategy for introducing electric vehicles within the next ten
Mazda is currently working towards independence. During their presentation on Thursday, the car manufacturer announced the creation of a proprietary hybrid system, which is expected to debut in the new version of the CX-5 crossover SUV, scheduled for release between 2025 and 2027. Following its introduction in the CX-5, Mazda intends to expand the use of this hybrid system to their bigger vehicle models.
Approaching the latter part of the period, Mazda aims to introduce an electric SUV by 2027, which will be built on a unique platform designed specifically for electric vehicles. There might also be a version with a plug-in hybrid option. This new model will be available for purchase in addition to an electric SUV that is being created in partnership with Changan.
2025 Mazda Model EZ-6
Mazda has verified that it has signed agreements for battery provisions with AESC and Panasonic, ensuring a sufficient supply of batteries until 2030. The company plans to construct a new plant in Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan, where battery cells supplied by Panasonic will be put together into modules. Mazda has been discussing this collaboration with Panasonic since 2023 or earlier.
Advancements in traditional engines will persist alongside other innovations. Mazda, in a recent briefing, unveiled plans for a forthcoming series of 4-cylinder Skyactiv-Z engines set to debut in 2027. Additionally, the company revealed the reformation of a team dedicated to rotary-engine advancement as of February. Presently, the MX-30 model incorporates a compact rotary engine for additional driving range, suggesting a potential expansion in the application of these unique, piston-free engines that are deeply entrenched in Mazda's history. In May, the car manufacturer also formed a coalition with Subaru and Toyota to explore strategies for further diminishing emissions from internal-combustion engines.

Piaggio has unveiled the Porter NPE, a compact electric utility vehicle
The Pontedera-based firm offered a sneak peek at its latest all-electric offering
At Ecomondo, an event focusing on ecology and sustainable economy held in Rimini's expo center, Piaggio introduced the Porter NPE as an international debut. The manufacturer claims it is their inaugural fully electric urban truck.
This new Porter is designed to combine agility, comfort, and quiet operation with an impressively long range, thanks to its new zero-emission powertrain, making it suitable for transporting goods over short to medium distances, including urban environments.
Photo Gallery: Piaggio Porter NPE 2024
Piaggio's commercial vehicle range is therefore enhanced by two new four-wheeled electric versions, which meet the demands of urban mobility thanks to their mix of small size and an unusually high load capacity for their class of at least one ton.
The latest electric line of Porter vehicles is being produced at the Piaggio Group's Pontedera facility in Italy and will be distributed in major European markets through a network dedicated to the sale and service of commercial vehicles.
The core component of the new Piaggio Porter NPE is the Electric Drive Unit (EDU), a streamlined system that combines the electric motor, inverter and transmission parts into one. This system was crafted to deliver top performance and efficiency while reducing weight, size, and component count, as well as enhancing the electrical and cooling circuits. The end result is a system that ensures robust, steady and long-lasting power.
Piaggio Porter New Powertrain Edition
The electric propulsion system propels the Porter NPE to a top speed of 90 km/h, meeting urban traffic needs. It boasts a range exceeding 250 km, with a payload capacity of up to 1,055 kg, thanks to its longitudinal beam chassis. This is paired with compact sizing, nimbleness, and ease of use.
The latest model of the electric Porter now includes options for cybersecurity and vehicle safety measures, both active and passive, along with advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). These features extend to the eco-friendly dual-fuel versions of the Porter that run on either gasoline/methane or gasoline/LPG.

VW Tayron (2025) – Ein persönliches Raumwunder: Einblicke in das siebensitzige SUV aus Wolfsburg

VW Tayron (2025): A Detailed Look at the Interior
The seven-seater SUV from Wolfsburg comes loaded with technology and offers ample space…
The new Tayron now finds its spot between the VW Tiguan and the Touareg. This successor to the Allspace still shares many features with the Tiguan, but ups the ante with seven seats, providing even more room and comfort. It aims to be the go-to vehicle for those in need of a family-friendly car. Let’s step inside and examine all the specifics.
Dashboard
The dashboard features a standard central display measuring 12.9 inches in the base models, with an upgraded 15-inch screen available in the more premium trims. Regardless of the model, the instrument panel remains consistently at 10.25 inches. The overall design largely mirrors that of the Tiguan, though there are a few distinct design tweaks, such as a "flap" on the dashboard designed to shield the digital panel from glare.
The central console features a spacious compartment and dual wireless charging pads, while a rotary knob adjusts volume, driving modes, and ambient lighting, offering a choice between 10 or 30 colors depending on the trim level.
Processing and Materials
It seems that considerable attention has been paid to the materials and craftsmanship of the Tayron. The passenger side also features intricate design, and the finishes in piano lacquer and satin steel appear to be well executed.
Upcoming Volkswagen Tayron Model Slated for 2025 Release
At the back, there's an equal level of attentiveness, complemented by sunshades incorporated into the door panels.
Interior Space and Trunk Capacity
With a wheelbase measuring 2.79 meters, which is 10 centimeters longer than the Tiguan, there's increased legroom for rear-seat passengers. Volkswagen states that up to five individuals can comfortably fit inside. However, the two additional seats in the third row are somewhat more cramped, making them better suited for children.
Upcoming 2025 Volkswagen Tayron
The trunk space is generously ample, catering well to family requirements. It spans from 345 liters when all seven seats are in use, to 850 liters with the third row folded, and a vast 2,090 liters with the second and third rows down. However, for the plug-in hybrid models, the capacity is reduced by roughly a hundred liters.
