Following closely after the previous week’s Emilia Romagna event, the overseas segment of the 2024 MotoGP World Championship begins with the grand event at Mandalika – the Indonesian Grand Prix.
In a dramatic turn at Misano, Jorge Martin was edged out by Enea Bastianini in the final lap, yet Francesco Bagnaia's seventh non-finish this season granted the Pramac racer a 24-point advantage in the championship standings over the current titleholder.
As the final six races approach, Bastianini occupies third place in the world championship standings, trailing Martin by 59 points and narrowly leading Marc Marquez, who is set to replace him in 2025, by a single
Martin clinched victory in the previous year's Mandalika Sprint race, momentarily securing the top spot in the 2023 championship standings. However, an error during the main race while he was in the lead allowed Bagnaia to regain the advantage.
Aprilia's Maverick Vinales and Yamaha's Fabio Quartararo accompanied the victor Bagnaia on the podium for the 2023 Indonesian Grand Prix.
Martin secures the pole position by breaking the lap record, with Bagnaia placing fourth, Bastianini in fifth, and Marquez ending up 12th following two accidents during Q2.

Bagnaia secures a crucial sprint victory ahead of Ducati colleague Bastianini, followed by Marc Marquez in third position.
Martin failed to secure any points in the 10th race following his accident. His lead in the championship has now diminished to 12.
As the race enters its last lap, Bagnaia is ahead by 0.8 seconds, with Bastianini trailing behind. Martin is currently in 11th place.

As they crossed the line on lap 12 out of 13, Bagnaia maintained a lead of 0.3 seconds, with Bastianini closely pursuing Marquez.
Bastianini encountered an error at Turn 10, though it hasn't significantly affected him. He is evidently faster than Marquez.
On the 11th lap out of 13, Bagnaia is in the lead, maintaining a slim advantage of just 0.172 seconds at the finish line. Bastianini trails close behind Marquez, less than a tenth of a second away.
Bastianini is significantly narrowing the gap on Marquez as they hit the 10th lap. He's emerging as the primary threat in this race.
Martin overtakes Alex Marquez at Turn 1, moving into the 12th position.
With four laps remaining out of thirteen, the leading trio is neck and neck as they cross the finish line.
Martin has moved into the 13th position.
The footage reveals that Quartararo collided with Morbidelli at Turn 16, clarifying the reason for his subsequent fallback.
On the ninth lap out of thirteen, Bagnaia is ahead by 0.208 seconds with Marquez trailing behind him, while Bastianini records the quickest lap time yet finds himself 0.5 seconds back from Marquez.
On the eighth lap out of thirteen, Bastianini has clocked the quickest lap time, while Bagnaia continues to maintain his position at the front, leading Marquez as they begin lap eight.
Quartararo is facing difficulties on the track and has fallen to the 11th position.
Bezzecchi narrowly avoids colliding with Bagnaia's rear after misjudging his braking at Turn 10! That was a narrow escape. Marquez has moved up to second place.
On the seventh lap out of thirteen, Bezzecchi recorded the quickest lap previously and trails by 0.14 seconds as he begins lap seven. Meanwhile, Acosta, who is in fifth place, has been cautioned for exceeding track boundaries.
Martin has managed to climb up to the 15th position with only eight laps remaining.
In the previous lap, the leading quartet each recorded their quickest lap times. Bastianini is currently half a second behind, needing to close this gap to catch up with Marquez.
As we begin the sixth lap out of thirteen, the leading trio is closely bunched together. There's still a considerable distance left in this race!
On the fifth lap out of thirteen, Bagnaia remains in the lead, maintaining a 0.4-second gap ahead of Bezzecchi, who is effectively utilizing the soft front tire, followed closely by Marquez.
Quartararo seized the opportunity when Di Giannantonio went off track at Turn 12, moving up to sixth place.
Bastianini overtakes Acosta at Turn 10, advancing to fifth place.
