Mr. Swinney reiterated his assertion that his party's reduction from 48 to 9 seats does not negate their authority to pursue independence.
However, he mentioned that the party plans to concentrate on topics such as economic development, reducing child poverty, enhancing public services, and achieving net zero emissions before achieving independence.
Sir Keir made his way to Northern Ireland on Sunday evening and is scheduled to hold meetings with the first minister, deputy first minister, and opposition leaders on Monday.
A mishandled Brexit agreement
During his trip to Scotland, Sir Keir sharply criticized Boris Johnson's handling of the initial Brexit negotiations with the European Union, labeling it as "mishandled."
The newly appointed prime minister expressed a desire to strengthen ties with Brussels.
Sir Keir stated: "Our goal is to enhance our connections with the EU, which includes strengthening trade linkages, as well as boosting collaboration in research and development and in defense and security sectors.
"Clearly, numerous conversations and bargaining sessions await."
"However, I believe that we can secure a far superior agreement compared to the flawed one that Boris Johnson burdened the UK with."
He stated that any deal hinges on "maintaining respectful relationships and engaging in discussions with leaders throughout the EU, and indeed, those efforts have already started."
