Schwantz Issues Stark Warning to Bagnaia Over Marquez’s Arrival: The Super-Team Dynamics Set to Elevate Ducati’s MotoGP Dominance
MotoGP icon sends a stark caution to Pecco Bagnaia regarding Marc Marquez's return
"He will keep enhancing Ducati, and Ducati's edge"
Kevin Schwantz has cautioned Pecco Bagnaia that he should expect increased pressure next season with Marc Marquez joining him as a teammate.
Marquez secured the 2025 factory Ducati spot, joining Bagnaia for a stellar team roster.
However, their dynamic will be closely examined, as both competitors are vying for this year's championship and are undoubtedly set their sights on winning the 2025 title as well.
"Without a doubt, it's going to be an exceptional team," affirmed Schwantz, the champion of the 500cc category in 1993.
"Hosting both racers within the same team? The feedback received from both, given their high speeds?
"The development promises excitement and will further enhance Ducati's competitive edge."
"They will also continue to have satellite motorcycles available."
Jorge Martin of Pramac is presently at the forefront of the MotoGP standings, leading into this weekend's round in Indonesia.
However, Bagnaia, along with his current team member Enea Bastianini and Gresini's Marquez, are contenders.
"Schwantz declared that the rivalry between Marc and Pecco is guaranteed to carry on into the next season from this year."
"The last individual you wish to be outperformed by is the one sharing your team colors. Having an excellent teammate is challenging if they aren't significantly behind you in performance!"
"There's a bit of rivalry within the team, a competitive edge. Enea Bastianini has proven to be a strong competitor for Bagnaia in several instances, yet it's believed that Marquez will consistently challenge him at every race."
Schwantz believes Aprilia can vie for the championship if they secure 'the ideal rider'
Schwantz supports Aprilia's potential to challenge for the title if they have Martin aboard.
Ducati's choice not to select Martin for the 2025 premier position led him to join Aprilia, teaming up with Marco Bezzecchi for the upcoming season.
"Aprilia has performed excellently. Jorge Martin will be on the motorcycle in 2025," Schwantz commented.
Aleix Espargaro has performed admirably, showing strong development skills. Maverick Vinales is also delivering commendable performances.
"When the bicycle is perfect, it surpasses all others with ease!"
During this year's event at COTA, Aprilia emerged as the leading motorcycle right from the initial practice session.
"Given the ideal rider – and this isn't to discount Maverick as that rider – but with someone of Martin's caliber, someone who has more drive, quicker pace, and a greater readiness to take risks, Aprilia could truly soar to new heights.
"They have the potential to compete for the global title."
Schwantz sees potential in Pedro Acosta as a future world champion.
The newcomer made a sensational impact in MotoGP right at the start of the season.
Acosta quickly secured an upgrade from Tech3 to KTM's main team for the 2025 season, despite a recent dip in his outstanding performance.
"Schwantz is confident that Pedro definitely has what it takes to become a world champion."
"He's youthful and energetic. Despite crashing twice during a session, he remains unfazed."
"I recognize many similarities between Pedro and myself."
"Provided he keeps developing, accelerates his pace, and sharpens his racing techniques, he's undoubtedly destined to become a world champion."
