The 2024 Cadillac Escalade-V will be available in Europe

AEC is now importing the large SUV equipped with a 6.2-liter V8 supercharged engine delivering 691 horsepower

Cadillac's relationship with Europe has always been somewhat tentative. This isn't the first attempt by the American manufacturer to make a mark on the European market with one of its vehicle offerings. The Escalade was once introduced to Europe as a considerable venture but was eventually discontinued. Currently, the only new model available through official dealerships is the fully electric Lyriq.

Could it be that a full-blown full-size SUV with a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine, almost 700 horsepower, and nearly 1,000 Nm of torque may actually stand a better chance in our markets? Perhaps it's because such an excessive model is a rarity among the downsizing trend of EU competitors? This was also the thought process of AEC, the importer that now acts as the official distributor for the vehicle. Indeed… the Cadillac Escalade-V, oozing with American car spirit from every angle, is making its way (semi-officially) to our shores, including Germany. However, it will be arriving not in the freshly updated 2025 version but as the 2024 model.

The Cadillac Escalade V-Series represents more than a mere mode of transportation. It stands as an emblem of opulence, influence, and high status. It is with pride that we introduce this unique model to the European market, promising consumers a superior combination of performance and sophistication.

Andrew Pilsworth, CEO of AEC

"The Cadillac Escalade V-Series transcends being a simple automobile. It embodies luxury, authority, and distinction. We take great pride in launching this distinctive model in Europe, assuring our customers an exceptional blend of power and grace."

Chief Executive Officer of AEC, Andrew Pilsworth.

Currently, pricing information is not available. The 2024 Escalade-V is priced starting at $154,290, which is approximately 143,000 Euros at the current exchange rate. Taxes, a compensation fee for AEC, and various other charges are likely to push the price in our region well above the 200,000 Euro threshold. Is it justified? Well…

Manuelle Eleganz trifft moderne Power: Der neue Porsche 911 Carrera T (2024)

Published

on

By

To enhance a more individualized experience

The upcoming 2024 Porsche 911 Carrera T reintroduces a 6-speed manual transmission

This latest version brings a boost in power and is now available for the first time as a convertible…

The 911 series from Porsche has long since moved away from its purist roots. With turbochargers, adaptive suspension systems, automatic transmissions, and a plethora of driver assistance features, the luxury experience has been amplified for the brand's affluent (and often older) clientele. However, for those who yearn for simplicity and still crave the 911 experience, the Carrera T is making a comeback.

Let's get straight to the heart of the matter: The engine propelling the 911 Carrera T (with the "T" representing "Touring") is the same 3.0-liter six-cylinder twin-turbo boxer engine found in the standard 911 Carrera. It produces 394 horsepower and can generate up to 450 Newton-meters of torque. Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission. Additionally, there's an optional rev-matching feature that automatically adjusts the engine speed during downshifts to ensure smooth transitions.

Photo Gallery: Porsche Carrera T (2024)

The Carrera T Coupe, equipped as standard with the Sport Chrono Package, accelerates to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds, while the newly available convertible version, designated as 'T', takes 4.7 seconds. It reaches a top speed of 295 km/h, with the convertible peaking at 293 km/h. To accommodate the power increase from the previous model, which had 385 horsepower, the Carrera T is outfitted with an enhanced braking system featuring 350 mm brake discs all around and six-piston fixed calipers at the front.

For the first time, Porsche equips the model with a standard rear-wheel steering system, which works in tandem with a more responsive steering ratio at the front axle. This setup allows for quicker lateral acceleration, more immediate steering response, and enhanced driving stability. The adaptive sports suspension (PASM) is lowered by 10 millimeters and tuned specifically for a more athletic performance in this model. The 911 Carrera T is fitted with Carrera S alloy wheels measuring 20/21 inches. The front axle is outfitted with 245/35 ZR20 tires, while the rear has 305/30 ZR21 tires.

Visually, the T-model can be distinguished from the standard Carrera by a few key features, including a decal with a shift pattern logo placed on the rear quarter window. The model name at the back is finished in the contrasting shade of "Vanadium Grey," a color that is also applied to the inserts in the rear decklid grille, the upper and lower shells of the exterior mirrors, and the wheels. Another distinctive aspect of the Carrera T is the aerodynamically enhanced front spoiler lip, borrowed from the 911 Carrera GTS. There is a wide variety of paint colors to choose from. However, the options for the convertible top of the 911 T Cabriolet are more limited, offering only black, red, blue, or brown. That's the summary.

Upcoming 2024 Porsche Carrera T

A standout feature inside the vehicle is undoubtedly the shortened shift lever, topped with a shift knob crafted from open-pore walnut layered wood. Just in front of this lever, there's a badge inscribed with "MT," indicating "Manual Transmission." The passenger side dashboard also bears a reprint of the gearshift pattern logo.

The standard equipment includes a leather-covered GT sports steering wheel with heating and a mode switch. As an alternative, there is an option for a Race-Tex steering wheel cover. The decorative inserts on the dashboard and center console come in "Vanadium Grey," while the door panel inserts are made from black brushed aluminum. And for those who are interested, as with nearly every Porsche model, there's the possibility to navigate through a vast array of additional options and packages in the configurator.

Enhanced Porsche Experience, Elevated 911 Appeal:

The latest Porsche 911 Carrera T is now available for order starting at €141,700. For the convertible version, the 911 Carrera T Cabriolet, prices begin at €155,800.

IEA Report Foresees Fossil Fuels’ Downfall by 2030 as EVs and Solar Energy Surge

Published

on

By

According to a recent analysis by the International Energy Agency (IEA), the rise of electric vehicles (EVs) and solar power is expected to significantly reduce the world's dependence on fossil fuels by the year 2030.

The International Energy Agency forecasts that by the year 2030, over 50% of global electrical power will be generated by sources that emit minimal amounts of greenhouse gases. Additionally, it is projected that the consumption of fossil fuels such as coal, oil, and gas will have reached their highest point by this time. The report emphasizes the necessity for an increased reliance on renewable energy, not just for the purpose of lowering carbon emissions, but also to accommodate the surge in electricity usage from electric vehicles and various other areas including data centers.

Present strategies indicate an annual increase in worldwide power consumption equal to the energy usage of Japan. However, the IEA forecasts that in all projected scenarios, the growth of green energy sources, with a focus on renewables, will surpass this surge in demand. Consequently, this will continuously reduce the proportion of electricity produced from fossil fuels.

The Solar Energy Facility Named After Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum in the UAE

This trend is nothing new. In 2023, renewable energy sources made up 30% of the world's electricity generation, as per the International Energy Agency, while the contribution from fossil fuels dropped to 60%, marking a half-century low.

Market dynamics are playing a role in this shift. Following the downturn caused by the pandemic, 2021 saw a temporary surge in coal usage. However, the general trend has seen coal and natural gas prices driving the move towards renewable energy sources in recent times.

It should be highlighted that the International Energy Agency anticipates that, regardless of the circumstances, nuclear energy will consistently account for a tenth of the worldwide electricity generation capacity. Resistance to nuclear energy, coupled with the emergence of innovative technologies that could boost its adoption, has the potential to sway this projection either upward or downward.

Power docks located at Volkswagen's testing facility in Arizona.

The study highlighted significant opportunities for both expansion of electric vehicles and reduction of carbon emissions, particularly in developing regions. The International Energy Agency assesses that there are roughly 750 million individuals, primarily situated in sub-Saharan Africa, who are without electrical power.

In the future, influenced by the efforts of President Biden's government, the United States' movement towards adopting wind and solar energy will persist in reducing coal consumption and enhancing the eco-friendliness of electric vehicles. However, the diverse nature of the U.S. power sector may present obstacles to a complete transition away from fossil fuels.

Forming a mutual beneficial connection with green power sources represents only a segment of the broader strategy aimed at cutting down emissions. An independent study conducted by advisory firm Wood Mackenzie further corroborated that electric vehicles are making a significant impact on the worldwide consumption of petrol.

2026 Cadillac Lyriq-V: Electrifying Performance Meets Luxury as Cadillac Unveils V-Series Badge for Its First EV

Published

on

By

The 2026 Cadillac Lyriq-V is set to introduce high-performance capabilities to the luxury automaker's electric vehicle range, marking the first time a V-Series badge will be featured on a Cadillac EV.

Cadillac announced on Tuesday that the new Lyriq-V is slated to hit the market in the early part of next year, labeled as a 2026 model. More information will be disclosed closer to its release. At the moment, the images provided by Cadillac offer scant insights, showing only minor design alterations compared to the regular Lyriq model.

Since its inception in 2004 with the debut of the CTS-V sedan, the "V" emblem has represented high performance for Cadillac. Across the last 20 years, Cadillac has expanded its V-Series to include high-performance variants of its standard models, bolstered by its involvement in motorsports. Today's offerings feature V-Series editions of the CT4 and CT5 sedans, available in both the regular and the more powerful Blackwing models, as well as the Escalade SUV.

2026 Model of the Cadillac Lyriq-V

The anticipated V-Series upgrade should boost the power beyond the Lyriq's base model that offers 500 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque when equipped with the optional dual-motor all-wheel-drive system. Additionally, improvements to the vehicle's framework are expected for a more dynamic driving experience. On another note, the 2025 Lyriq will eliminate its former entry-level option, with the continuing models seeing reductions in price. These minor modifications are consistent with updates to a model that remains relatively fresh on the market.

The 2023 model year marked the debut of the Lyriq, Cadillac's initial electric vehicle constructed on the framework that General Motors, its parent company, referred to at the time as the Ultium architecture (GM has since chosen to discontinue the Ultium designation). Hence, it's fitting that the Lyriq is the pioneering electric vehicle from Cadillac to transform into a V-Series, which is their line of high-performance vehicles.

There are rumors that General Motors may be reevaluating their strategy to convert Cadillac entirely to electric vehicles by 2030. Nevertheless, Cadillac is poised to introduce a broad range of electric vehicles shortly. The Lyriq will be joined by the more affordable Optiq and the larger, three-row Vistiq, while the luxury Celestiq sedan and the premium Escalade IQ will cater to the upscale segment. It is still unclear if Cadillac will release high-performance V-Series models of these electric vehicles.

Volvo and Polestar Join Electric Charge, Offer Tesla Supercharger Access with New $230 Adapter

Published

on

By

On Tuesday, Polestar and Volvo announced their plan to adopt the Tesla North American Charging Standard (NACS), providing their customers with access to over 17,800 Tesla Supercharger stations for rapid charging. The necessary adapters for this service are priced at $230.

Owners of Polestar vehicles have the option to purchase a NACS adapter for $230 by contacting their nearby service center, with the expectation that deliveries will commence around mid-November, as stated by the car manufacturer in a news announcement. Similarly, Volvo is making these adapters available to its current clientele via its dealership network at an equivalent cost, and is incorporating complimentary adapters with the acquisition or leasing of new models including the EX90, EX40, and EC40. Details regarding adapters for the Volvo EX30, which is produced in China and presently faces challenges due to high tariffs on electric vehicles imported from there, will be provided at a future date.

Upcoming Volvo EX90 Model Set

Upcoming electric vehicles from Volvo and Polestar will be equipped with the NACS port as a regular feature. Although they initially revealed plans for Supercharger network access to commence in 2023, they did not offer any new information regarding this during their latest announcement, while reaffirming that the standardization would begin in 2025.

The majority of prominent electric vehicle companies are now agreeing to use the North American Charging Standard (NACS), though they are transitioning to the Tesla charging port at different rates. Ford led the pack, declaring its commitment in May 2023 and became the earliest to offer access to Tesla's Superchargers by shipping complimentary adapters starting in February. Rivian came next, distributing their free adapters in March, while General Motors revealed their adapters in September, with a price tag of $225.

Polestar 3 spotted at a Tesla charging hub

Hyundai has bypassed the stage of adopting Tesla adapters and declared in September that the upcoming 2025 Ioniq 5 will come equipped with a North American Charging Standard (NACS) port. Instead of switching ports, the car manufacturer plans to provide adapters for the previously integrated Combined Charging Standard (CCS) port, ensuring that drivers can still utilize the extensive network of existing CCS charging stations.

Originally starting as a motorsport team associated with Volvo, Polestar transitioned into a high-performance division for the brand. However, in 2017, Volvo's parent firm, the China-based Geely, re-established Polestar as an independent entity. Although Polestar and Volvo continue to utilize shared technologies and vehicle foundations, Polestar is charting its own course by aiming to create its proprietary engines and parts. Earlier in the year, Volvo scaled back its financial investment in Polestar.

Revolutionizing the Ride: Texas Company Unveils Lighter, Space-Saving Battery Pack for Tesla Roadster

Published

on

By

A company in Texas has reimagined the original Tesla Roadster by designing a battery replacement that slashes the weight by 400 pounds and reduces the space needed by half, potentially enhancing the vehicle's maneuverability as the next-gen Roadster is still in development.

Re/Cell, a company focused on refurbishing electric vehicle battery packs, has introduced a new battery pack for the Roadster that weighs 400 pounds less and occupies 3.7 cubic feet less room than its predecessor, essentially reducing the original pack's volume by half.

Re/Cell's replacement battery pack, boasting a total capacity of 47 kwh, is anticipated to deliver a driving range of 220-240 miles, on par with the original manufacturer's pack. However, it's not just about meeting the original specifications; the new pack's lower weight and smaller size are expected to enhance the overall performance of the Roadster.

Aftermarket battery pack option for the Tesla Roadster

Re/Cell's president, Chad Maglaque, commented that the cost of Roadster's replacement packs is excessively high and overly concentrated on acceleration and distance capabilities. He suggested that the emphasis ought to shift towards agility and velocity to align with the vehicle's exceptional racing-caliber framework.

The Roadster's design took inspiration from the Lotus Elise, and it's something Lotus's creator Colin Chapman, known for his principle of "simplify, then add lightness," would probably support, given the focus on driving dynamics rather than sheer speed.

Re/Cell asserts that their battery module not only reduces the Roadster's center of gravity but also facilitates the redistribution of weight closer to the center of the frame, enhancing the vehicle's maneuverability. Additionally, it creates space for the installation of DC rapid-charging components and cooling mechanisms for both the engine and the power electronics unit, although these additions are not standard but optional.

Image of the 2010 Tesla Roadster Sport courtesy of Hagerty

Re/Cell has enhanced the battery's cooling mechanism by incorporating a cast core that is coupled with ribbons, which amplifies the heat transfer contact area by a factor of 50 when juxtaposed with the standard cooling system. This also ensures steady regulation of temperature. Despite this, the firm has retained the conventional 18650 cell design, albeit the chemical composition has undergone substantial advancement.

Re/Cell has set the cost of their high-performance pack at $27,895, which includes an $11,500 discount when trading in their current pack. The company repurposes initial Roadster cells to create refurbished battery packs for solar setups and emergency power sources. According to information provided to Green Car Reports, out of over 500,000 cells handled by Re/Cell last year, only 150 were discarded or recycled.

Production of the final Tesla Roadster concluded in December 2011, right on the cusp of the Model S's debut. While this vehicle was pivotal for Tesla's emergence, Elon Musk's involvement was minimal, and he was not the founder of the company. Musk took over as CEO towards the end of 2008, by which time the Roadster had already begun its initial manufacturing phase.

Throughout the years, Tesla's approach to offering factory assistance for the original Roadster models has varied. However, with the significant drop in the prices of EV batteries since the introduction of the sports car, there's now greater opportunity for third-party firms such as Re/Cell to step in and offer different options.

Lucid Gravity SUV Poised to Electrify the Market with a $94,900 Price Tag and 440-Mile Range

Published

on

By

The electric SUV from Lucid, named Gravity, is priced at $94,900 and aims to achieve a distance of 440 miles on a single charge. Lucid has reaffirmed on Tuesday that their production is slated to commence by the year's end, with aspirations to surpass a range of 440 miles and achieve over 800 horsepower.

Booking for orders is set to commence on the 7th of November at 9 a.m. PT. The first model available for reservation will be the Gravity Grand Touring, which is tagged at $94,900 excluding destination fees. Following the Grand Touring, the Gravity Touring model, anticipated for the 2026 model year, is slated to begin manufacturing towards the end of 2025 and will be offered starting at $79,900.

2025 Model of Lucid Gravity

The automaker has confirmed that the projected maximum distance is calculated using a "battery pack capacity akin to the 2025 Lucid Air Grand Touring." This particular model of Lucid's four-door car features a 112-kwh battery that aids in achieving a 516-mile range according to EPA standards. The variation is expected to stem, to some extent, from the Gravity's heavier build and its shape, which is not as streamlined as the Air.

The disclosed mileage and the powerful 800-hp performance align with the details Lucid shared during the Gravity's reveal in November 2023. Back then, Lucid mentioned that these specs would pertain to a two-motor model expected to be released initially (likely the now verified Grand Touring), which would be capable of accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in under 3.5 seconds.

2025 Model of Lucid Gravity

In September, Lucid announced that starting from 2025, the Gravity model will be equipped with the Tesla North American Charging Standard (NACS) port. This suggests that the initial vehicles delivered to customers will probably feature the Combined Charging Standard (CCS) port, which has been observed on the Gravity prototypes.

After launching the Gravity model, Lucid plans to expand its lineup with three cost-effective electric vehicles. These will likely be more budget-friendly compared to Lucid's current offerings. The initial vehicle anticipated is the Lucid Earth, a midsize SUV with a price tag around $50,000, with production slated to begin towards the end of 2026.

Mitsubishi is set to introduce two new models in Europe by 2025, including a fully electric SUV and another SUV in the compact segment. There were previous concerns that Mitsubishi might not release any new models in Europe. However, the introduction of the ASX and Colt models marked a significant turnaround. The company plans to expand its offerings even further next year.

Mitsubishi Motors has declared its plans to continue expanding its product range in Europe, revealing the launch of a new SUV in the C-Segment category slated for release in 2025. This upcoming SUV will feature both gasoline and full-hybrid powertrains, be equipped with cutting-edge safety features, and offer the latest in connectivity with built-in Google services. This model will join the lineup alongside the previously announced all-electric SUV.

In this instance, Mitsubishi is set to introduce a unique version of the Renault Scénic's electric model. Specifics have yet to be disclosed, but a preview recently shared by the company gives a hint of what's in store. Similar to the ASX and Colt, it's expected that Mitsubishi will make minor modifications to the front and rear sections. The design cues will likely draw from the recently unveiled XForce.

With the launch of these two new models next year, the Japanese automaker will have a total of five new models in the European market as part of its product push since 2023, including the ASX, Colt, and the new Outlander.

Frank Krol, the President and CEO of Mitsubishi Motors Europe, has announced a strategic approach to dominate Europe's largest market segment. Krol stated, "We are set to offer a diverse range of electrified vehicles, catering to various price points and fulfilling different customer needs." He added that the incorporation of cutting-edge assistance and safety features, along with Google connectivity, positions Mitsubishi Motors to make significant advancements towards the future of mobility.

Additional offerings from Mitsubishi:

Jens Schulz, Managing Director of MMD Automobile GmbH, the importer for Mitsubishi Motors in Germany, expresses his enthusiasm about enhancing the brand's presence in the German market with the introduction of new Mitsubishi models. He also mentions that this move signifies Mitsubishi Motors' commitment to the European market and highlights their intention to continue their product expansion from the past two years with the introduction of fresh, appealing models in the coming year.

Dacia’s Ambitious Drive: Conquering the Golf-Class with New Models and a Personal Touch

Dacia aims to dominate the compact car category with new models

The Bigster was just the beginning in the so-called C-segment

Dacia is currently thriving with a 2.5 percent share of the German market, surpassing its parent company Renault, which has 1.8 percent. This success isn't surprising as the Romanian brand's vehicles are affordable and have recently become stylish, as demonstrated by the new Duster. Dacia recently introduced the Bigster, their first model for the C-segment.

The Dacia Bigster measures a respectable 4.57 meters, yet it falls into the so-called C-segment, commonly referred to as the "Golf class". Dacia intends to continue making its mark in this category. After all, there's a noticeable gap between the Sandero and the Duster/Bigster models. This is true for pricing as well, considering that the starting price for a new VW Golf in Germany has surpassed 28,000 Euros. Meanwhile, Renault suggests that the successor to the aging Megane, which currently uses a combustion engine, might come from the Dacia lineup.

Photo Gallery: Dacia Bigster (2024)

During the recent introduction of the Bigster model, Dacia shared the following insight: "As revealed in the Renaulution strategy plan back in January 2021, Dacia is on a mission to dominate the C-segment. Already at the forefront in Europe's B-segment, Dacia is now stepping into the C-SUV category with its Bigster. The persistent rise in vehicle prices within the C-SUV class has been a significant deterrent for potential buyers. However, with the launch of the Bigster, this is set to change, as it embodies the essence of Dacia more than ever, making the C-SUV class accessible once again."

Additionally, "Dacia is entering the C-segment with a meticulously crafted product plan. Following the debut of the new Bigster, two more vehicles are set to be introduced." So, what could these be? At the Paris Motor Show, Dacia's CEO Denis Le Vot had a conversation with Autocar's team from the UK. According to Le Vot, the lineup might include an estate car, but he chose not to disclose any specific details just yet.

Could we be seeing a station wagon or a Dacia version of the popular Golf model? It's possible that the Renault Group might utilize its versatile CMF-B platform, which can accommodate vehicles up to 4.6 meters in length. This platform could also support hybrid engines, similar to the ones used in the Jogger, Duster, and Bigster. Our prediction is that we might see a sportier "Sportback" take on the Duster and a new station wagon model that could succeed the Jogger, which has been on the market since 2021. Meanwhile, a traditional five-door hatchback, akin to a "Dacia Golf," has the potential to make a significant impact.

Le Vot simultaneously mentioned the potential feasibility of a compact urban vehicle built on the foundation of Renault's new electric Twingo. The CEO suggested that historically, nothing smaller than the Sandero was provided because "the equation of a conventional A-segment with internal combustion solutions doesn't quite work," due to the slim profit margins.

Additional coverage on Dacia:

It would make sense for the Renault Group to increase the scalability and production numbers of the new Twingo platform as this could reduce costs. They are targeting a 2026 launch for the Neo-Twingo, which is being manufactured in Slovenia, with a starting price of €20,000. A Dacia version, which may launch at the same time, could potentially replace the Spring currently imported from China. Despite its success, the Spring is considered a stopgap within the company. It's possible that they might adopt the Spring's design for a small SUV model to set it apart from the future Twingo's retro style.

Renault: A Preview of the 2025 Lineup

There's a buzz of excitement about the revival of the R4, plus updates to the Megane E-Tech and Austral are on the horizon…

At the Paris Motor Show, we got a sneak peek at what's in store for Renault. The French automaker showcased their latest 4 E-Tech, an electric crossover designed to pay tribute in style and concept to its iconic namesake from the past.

The number 4 is set to launch in 2025 and won't be the only fresh offering from the French firm. The upcoming year will see updates to two other key models, including the Megane E-Tech and the Austral. Here's everything you need to know…

Renault has unveiled a new version of its classic Renault 4 model in Paris, with plans to roll it out to dealerships in the summer of 2025. The car, built on the AmpR Small platform, offers battery options of 40 and 52 kWh, paired respectively with 120 and 150 horsepower engines. It promises a maximum range of up to 400 kilometers according to the WLTP cycle, although this figure is pending official approval.

Renault 4 Electric Model

All models come standard with a two-way 11 kW AC charging device. Additionally, the R4 can be charged using direct current, with the maximum power depending on the battery, being either 80 kW or 100 kW.

The Renault 4 E-Tech also holds the distinction of being the brand's initial offering to feature one-pedal driving. When the driver eases off the accelerator, the car slows down and comes to a halt while recapturing energy. Moreover, the trunk is noteworthy for its capacity to accommodate up to 420 liters of cargo.

Renault 5 E-Tech Electric Model

The revival of the Renault 5 is set to take place at the start of 2025, and it's going to include the launch of a new electric model with a 40 kWh battery. This model will complement the existing 52 kWh version, offering an estimated range of about 300 km based on the WLTP cycle. It will be available with electric motors that have outputs of 95 and 120 horsepower. The starting price for the base model will be approximately 25,000 euros, but it's important to note that this version will not have DC fast charging capability.

The Megane E-Tech Electric, released in 2021, is anticipated to undergo a refresh by 2025. The makeover is predicted to include visual tweaks to align it more closely with the design language of more recent models such as the Scenic E-Tech and Rafale. Upgrades to the interior and the addition of a more sophisticated infotainment system are also expected.

Renault Megane E-Tech has been transformed

The stylistic revamp is expected to coincide with a series of innovative changes in electric motors and batteries. Renault may update the powertrain, focusing even more on efficiency and battery capacity. Currently, the Megane E-Tech offers options with 131 and 218 horsepower, paired with 40 kWh and 60 kWh batteries, respectively, allowing for a maximum WLTP range of about 470 kilometers.

The Renault Austral is set to receive an update in 2025, which comes three years after the model was initially launched. Spy shots of an early prototype suggest that the most significant visual modifications will be made to the front end, featuring headlights and a bumper that may take cues from the Rafale. Changes to the rear lights are also anticipated, potentially mirroring the Rafale's design.

Spy Shot Reveals Redesign of Renault Austral

The body and side profile are expected to remain largely the same, as the fundamental design lines are likely to be preserved. As for the interior, no specifics have been confirmed, but the redesign is expected to continue using the OpenR Link infotainment system, which is based on Android Automotive.

It is anticipated that the updated Austral will continue to utilize the existing engine technology, which includes the 1.2 TCe producing 131 horsepower, the 1.3 TCe Light Hybrid with 160 horsepower, and the 1.2 Hybrid delivering 200 horsepower. However, the possibility of introducing a plug-in hybrid variant cannot be ruled out, potentially featuring the same 300 horsepower as seen in the Rafale.

The starting price for the entry-level variant will be approximately 25,000 euros, although this base model will not have DC fast-charging capability.

Facelift for Renault Megane E-Tech Expected in 2025

The electrically powered Megane, launched in 2021, is anticipated to undergo a refresh by 2025. The makeover is likely to incorporate visual tweaks to align it more with the aesthetic of recent additions such as the Scenic E-Tech and the Rafale. Upgrades to the interior and the addition of a more sophisticated infotainment system are also expected.

The stylistic revamp is likely to incorporate a host of innovations in electric motors and battery technology. Renault may upgrade the powertrain, focusing even more on efficiency and battery life. The taillights might also see changes reflecting the Rafale's style.

Regarding the interior, while no specifics have been confirmed, it's anticipated that the redesign will continue to feature the OpenR Link infotainment system that runs on Android Automotive.

The updated Austral is expected to retain its existing engine technology, which includes the 1.2 TCe with 131 horsepower, the 1.3 TCe Light Hybrid with 160 horsepower, and the 1.2 Hybrid with 200 horsepower. However, the possibility of introducing a plug-in hybrid variant remains open, potentially with the same 300 horsepower found in the Rafale.

2025 Mercedes-Benz EQE Sedan: Bigger Battery, Enhanced Range, and New Luxury Features

Published

on

By

The 2025 model of the Mercedes-Benz EQE electric car will feature enhancements such as an expanded battery capacity for select versions.

The EQE 350+ and EQE 500 4Matic are equipped with a 96.0-kWh battery, whereas the EQE 350 4Matic retains the 90.6-kWh battery from the previous year. Mercedes has announced enhanced battery life due to new cell technology in these versions as well as the high-performance AMG EQE, though the battery size for the latter has not been disclosed.

As a point of comparison, the current battery pack in the one-motor EQE 350+ and the two-motor EQE 500 4Matic models delivers an estimated distance of 298 miles according to EPA standards. This figure decreases to 280 miles in the case of the EQE 350 4Matic and plummets to 230 miles when it comes to the AMG EQE variant.

2025 Model of Mercedes-Benz EQE

The latest software for regenerative braking is set to be introduced in 2025, succeeding the braking system improvements planned for the 2024 models. Mercedes has previously calibrated the regenerative braking in its EQE and EQS models to prioritize energy recovery, choosing a higher level of regeneration compared to other car manufacturers. This choice, however, resulted in a less accurate brake pedal response when coming to a complete stop and a reduced sensation during forceful braking.

Updates to the model also feature a fresh 20-inch wheel pattern, the option for cushioned headrests, and the addition of gentle-closing doors for the non-AMG variants. Moreover, the standard features now encompass a central airbag at the front and the capability for a digital key, together with the introduction of an exclusive Manufaktur Moonlight White Metallic color choice.

Upcoming 2025 Mercedes-Benz Electric Model

The anticipated power for the EQE 350+ with one motor is set to stay at 288 horsepower, while the twin-motor EQE 350 4Matic will match this performance. However, the EQE 400 4Matic will see an increase, boasting 536 horsepower. The AMG version of the EQE, equipped with two motors, will ramp up its prowess to 677 horsepower, asserting a rapid acceleration with a 3.2-second sprint to 60 mph, alongside the presumed improvements to the vehicle's framework.

The starting cost for the EQE 350+ and its all-wheel-drive counterpart, the EQE 350 4Matic, is set at $79,050, which includes a destination charge of $1,150. For those looking into the EQE 500 4Matic or the performance-focused AMG EQE, prices begin at $90,650 and $109,300, respectively.
