MotoGP Concessions Rank Unchanged: Summer Break Analysis Reveals Stability Across Manufacturers for 2024 Season
No adjustments in MotoGP Concessions status during summer break
All five MotoGP manufacturers will keep their existing Concessions status for the rest of the 2024 season.
The beginning of the MotoGP summer hiatus coincided with the conclusion of the latest period for reassessing the Concessions ranking for each manufacturer.
The recently implemented system, which came into effect at the beginning of this year, allocates different technical benefits based on the percentage of the maximum constructors' points each brand has accumulated over the past year.
The percentage is subsequently translated into a grade ranging from A to D, as outlined below:
A is greater than or equal
B is at least 60% but less than
The value of C is at least 35%
D is below 35%.
The percentage and ranking are updated biannually: once from the previous year's summer break to the current year's summer break, and then from the first race to the last race of the season.
An analysis of the period from the summer break of 2023 to 2024 reveals that all five factories have stayed within the same Concessions category. Consequently, their rankings will remain unchanged for the rest of the 2024 world championship.
In light of the recent limitations on test tires and the prohibition of wild-card entries, Ducati has managed to boost its share of the total constructors' points from 95% to 96%, thereby comfortably maintaining its position in band A.
KTM's performance has decreased by 1%, placing it in the middle of the C range. Aprilia, on the other hand, has risen by 5%, now reaching the 50% mark.
Despite the complete range of D ranking advantages, such as in-season modifications to engine designs and exclusive testing sessions with their race riders, Yamaha and Honda have not yet seen an improvement in their constructors' points.
Yamaha's performance has declined by 6%, bringing it to 21% of its potential maximum, while Honda has experienced a 5% drop, resulting in a 16% achievement. Consequently, both companies remain far from the 35% threshold needed to reach a C ranking.
Points for constructors are given to the highest-placing motorcycle from each manufacturer in each race.
Yamaha will benefit next season by having two additional bikes in the competition, thanks to a new agreement with Pramac. This will also lower the number of Desmosedici bikes from eight to six.
