MotoGP Concessions Rank Unchanged at Summer Break, All Manufacturers Retain Their Current Positions for 2024 Season
Status quo maintained for MotoGP Concessions position during mid-season interval
Throughout the 2024 season, the five MotoGP teams will keep their existing positions in the Concessions standings.
The beginning of the MotoGP summer hiatus coincided with the closure of the latest period for adjusting the Concessions standings for each manufacturer.
The recently launched system, implemented at the beginning of this year, allocates different technological benefits based on the proportion of the highest possible constructors' points each brand accumulates over a 12-month period.
This figure is subsequently transformed into a grade ranging from A to D, as outlined below:
Achieving a percentage of
B is greater than or equal to 60%
C ranges from 35% to less than
Less than 35%
The calculation of both the percentage and the rank is updated biannually, covering the period from the previous year's summer break to the current year's summer break, and subsequently from the season's opening race to its final event.
Adjusting the calculations from the summer of 2023 to 2024 indicates that all five manufacturing facilities have stayed within the same Concessions tier, signifying that their positions will not alter through the end of the 2024 global championship.
Despite facing tighter regulations on test tires and a prohibition on wild-card entries, Ducati has managed to enhance its share of the maximum constructors' points, moving from 95% to 96%, thereby comfortably maintaining its position in band A.
KTM has experienced a decrease of 1%, landing at 50%, thus staying within the mid-range of category C. Conversely, Aprilia has seen a 5% increase, also reaching the 50% mark.
The comprehensive D-level benefits for Yamaha and Honda, such as modifications to engine design during the season and exclusive testing sessions with their racing team members, have so far failed to boost their scores in the constructors' championship.
Yamaha has experienced a decrease ranging from 6% to 21% of the total possible, while Honda has seen a decline of about 5% to 16%. Consequently, neither of them are nearing the 35% threshold that would elevate them to a C ranking.
Points for constructors are given to the highest-ranking motorcycle from every brand in each competition.
Next season, Yamaha's efforts will be boosted by the addition of two more bikes to the lineup, thanks to a recent agreement with Pramac. This arrangement will also decrease the count of Desmosedicis on the grid from eight to six.
