Max Verstappen questioned on potential exit from Red Bull
Max Verstappen gave an interesting reply when asked about the possibility of a clause in his Red Bull contract that could allow him to leave.
Throughout the season, there has been ongoing discussion about the existence and specifics of a possible clause that would allow Verstappen to leave Red Bull before his contract expires in 2028.
Mercedes has expressed their interest, whereas Aston Martin presents a compelling choice since they have also brought Adrian Newey onboard from Red Bull.
Sky Italy inquired whether Verstappen's contract with Red Bull includes a clause allowing him to leave.
He responded enigmatically, saying, "Perhaps, perhaps not."
"Let me reiterate, my current focus is not on that, as there are numerous aspects I wish to comprehend and improve upon this year compared to future years."
"I'm not currently thinking about what might come next, as it feels too distant to consider right now."
Verstappen is guaranteed to remain with Red Bull for the upcoming year, as the roster for F1 drivers for 2025 is already finalized.
However, the engine rules will be revised in 2026, opening up the potential for significant shifts, especially if the current hierarchy is disrupted.
Verstappen was questioned about whether he would join the team with the quickest car.
"In my opinion, I feel like I've been a member of this team for quite a while now," he stated.
"It's evident that everyone desires victory; all individuals in the paddock aim to come out on top."
"You can effortlessly alternate between sides as the years pass."
"I want my F1 career to be different; I don't wish to be associated with several teams."
"My goal is to create a lasting, strong, and harmonious connection with each team member, making everyone feel like they're part of a family."
Switching teams frequently doesn't suit me and is something I wish to avoid at this point in my career.
"If I ever take another step, it will be my final one."
"The following move might involve extending the contract with the team, though nothing is decided yet."
