Marquez Unfazed by Pramac’s Ducati Exit as MotoGP Landscape Shifts
Marc Marquez stated, "I don't feel responsible" for Pramac's decision to part ways with Ducati.
"I don't feel responsible for Pramac's departure from Ducati," Marquez said.
Marc Marquez has denied feeling responsible for Pramac's departure from Ducati.
Ducati's decision to choose Marquez for the 2025 factory seat created significant waves in the sporting world.
The notable event was the departure of Jorge Martin, who has joined Aprilia, and Enea Bastianini, who is set to move to Tech3 KTM.
However, Aprilia has also lost Marco Bezzecchi.
In a notable move, the Pramac satellite team has decided to conclude their long-standing partnership with Ducati and will be teaming up with Yamaha for the next season.
According to Autosport, Marquez stated that he doesn't feel any remorse about Pramac parting ways with Ducati, as he believes he didn't play a part in it.
"As a Ducati rider, I definitely would have preferred them to stay, as it would mean having two additional bikes on the track, providing more data, and maintaining a significant team within Ducati."
"As someone who follows MotoGP, I believe this is positive information."
"While I personally would rather see two additional Ducati bikes on the track, from a fan's perspective, it made sense for one of the Ducati teams to switch to Yamaha. This change ensures that there are four Japanese bikes and two fewer Italian bikes competing in the championship."
Next season, Ducati will feature their factory team along with the Gresini and VR46 teams, whereas Yamaha plans to increase their number of bikes from two to four.
Pramac seemed like a logical choice for Marquez in 2025 since they could provide him with a factory-spec motorcycle – but then he unexpectedly announced that they were not a possibility.
This seemed to compel Ducati to abandon the notion of assigning Martin to their factory team and putting Marquez in Pramac.
Paolo Campinoti, the head of Pramac, has expressed disapproval over Ducati's choice to bring Marquez on board, stating that this move contradicts their principle of supporting younger racers.
Ducati has had to justify their actions, citing the upcoming addition of Moto2 sensation Fermin Aldeguer next year as proof of their dedication to nurturing young talent.
Marquez, on the other hand, is set to join Ducati's factory team next year, as the manufacturer will have fewer motorcycles in the competition.
