Marc Marquez Speaks Out on Pramac’s Ducati Departure and Its MotoGP Shuffle
Marc Marquez Expresses No Remorse Over Pramac's Departure from Ducati
"Regarding Pramac's exit from Ducati, I don't harbor any feelings of guilt."
Marc Marquez has dismissed any sense of responsibility for Pramac's departure from Ducati.
Ducati's decision to choose Marquez for their 2025 factory team spot sent shockwaves across the racing community.
A notable development was the departure of Jorge Martin, who inked a deal with Aprilia, and Enea Bastianini, who is set to join Tech3 KTM.
However, Marco Bezzecchi has also parted ways with Aprilia.
Importantly, the Pramac satellite team decided to conclude their extended partnership with Ducati and will switch to Yamaha for the upcoming season.
"Marquez stated to Autosport that he harbors no guilt over Pramac's departure from Ducati, asserting his lack of involvement in the matter."
"Indeed, being a rider for Ducati, I had hoped they would persist, given it would mean an additional two motorcycles on the circuit, more data to share, and it represents a significant entity within Ducati."
"As someone who follows MotoGP, I believe this is positive news."
"From a personal standpoint, I'm inclined towards having an additional pair of Ducatis racing, but looking at it from a fan's perspective, it was a logical transition for one of the Ducati teams to switch to Yamaha. This move ensures the championship features four Japanese motorcycles, reducing the Italian presence by two bikes on the circuit."
Next season, Ducati's lineup will include their official team alongside Gresini and VR46 squads, whereas Yamaha is set to expand their roster from two to four motorcycles.
Pramac seemed like a logical choice for Marquez in 2025, thanks to their capability to provide him with a bike of factory specification. However, his startling announcement revealed that they were not a consideration.
This seemingly compelled Ducati to abandon any plans of positioning Martin in their official team, and Marquez in Pramac.
Pramac leader Paolo Campinoti has expressed disapproval over Ducati's choice to bring Marquez on board, arguing that it contradicts their usual strategy of supporting emerging talents.
Ducati has found itself in a position where it had to justify its stance, highlighting the upcoming incorporation of Moto2 sensation Fermin Aldeguer into their team next season as proof of their dedication to nurturing emerging talents.
Marquez is set to join Ducati's primary team next season, a move that comes as the manufacturer reduces the number of its motorcycles participating in the competition.
