Mandalika Circuit Counters Marquez’s Fire Extinguisher Allegations Amid MotoGP Controversy
Mandalika Circuit refutes Marc Marquez's allegations about fire extinguishers
The circuit dismisses Marc Marquez's assertion that the fire extinguishers were incorrect
The circuit has refuted Marc Marquez's assertion that incorrect fire extinguishers were employed during the Indonesian MotoGP event.
Last weekend, Marquez's race came to an abrupt halt when his Ducati caught fire.
However, the Gresini team member claimed that using the wrong fire extinguishers made the damage to his motorcycle more severe.
Marquez mentioned that the fire extinguisher available here is not suitable, and the bike suffered total damage, including the brakes.
"It's unfortunate for the team, as the expenses are significant for an independent team."
"However, it's important to ensure that the fire extinguishers are the appropriate type or the most advanced models, as using the wrong ones could damage the bicycle."
However, the Mandalika Grand Prix Association (MGPA) has responded.
CEO Priandhi Satria informed Antara that all the equipment at the circuit, such as fire extinguishers, met the necessary homologation standards.
On that Thursday afternoon, just before the Indonesian MotoGP weekend, the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit received FIM Grade A homologation. This meant the circuit had been reviewed, all necessary equipment was present, and it was deemed suitable to host MotoGP sessions on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, as Priandhi informed Antara.
"If the rider claims this is incorrect, then it could very well be incorrect. We ask the FIM to issue a formal warning to us."
"As far as I'm concerned, if the FIM hasn't issued any warnings and has granted a homologation, it indicates that the FIM has inspected and is aware of the circuit's features, which is why the written homologation is provided."
This weekend, Marquez is making a comeback at the Japanese MotoGP.
He trails championship leader Jorge Martin by 78 points.
