Legends Unite: John McGuinness Achieves Personal Best at Silverstone Under Valentino Rossi’s Wing
John McGuinness on observing Valentino Rossi: "His style is seamless, appearing without strain."
Valentino Rossi remains "exceptionally speedy and rapid."
Monster Energy Legends Day recently united motorcycle racing icons from various series, including John McGuinness and Valentino Rossi.
The legends of the Isle of Man TT and a celebrated MotoGP champion graced the Silverstone circuit, accompanied by a notable lineup of former and current motorcycle racers.
"McGuinness humorously told TNT Sports, 'This small guy from Italy zoomed by me on the straightaway behind.'"
"Someone mentioned Valentino Rossi, and I figured 'he's quite speedy, I'll tag along with him'."
He pulled me along to complete the quickest circuit I've ever achieved at Silverstone.
I clenched onto the screen, doing my utmost to maintain my grip!
My focus was primarily on observing him. He's unparalleled globally.
Sylvain Guintoli remarked, "Following Rossi, John McGuinness achieved his quickest lap around Silverstone to date! Isn't that amazing?"
Neil Hodgson, present at Silverstone, responded, "Incredible! He was thrilled."
He enters the garage and places the bicycle on the rack, the traditional way.
In typical John fashion, he remarked, "I've never completed this circuit quicker, especially trailing Valentino. His style appears so seamless and easy."
"I exclaimed, 'absolutely, that's unmistakably Valentino's hallmark!' From the very beginning, he has effortlessly made it appear simple."
Guintoli commented on Rossi, who is currently 45, stating: “He continues to ride. We've conducted testing sessions alongside Valentino at BMW.
"In Portimao, we had one among us on the circuit, and he's still showing impressive speed and agility."
Suzi Perry mentioned, "He's involved with his automotive projects, but he confided in me saying, 'Riding a motorcycle is incomparable.'"
Guintoli responded, "There's nothing quite like getting back on a fast motorcycle."
The enduring bond between Rossi and McGuinness is rooted in a shared respect that has spanned several years.
In 2021, Rossi mentioned, "I'm constantly in touch with John."
Rossi was questioned about his interest in competing against McGuinness in the Isle of Man TT race.
He responded, "It's situated near the scenic roads of Tavullia."
"In a setting where we honed our skills racing scooters on regular streets, akin to the experience of the TT, but not on a designated circuit."
"I really don't want to compete against him in the TT! He's incredibly quick!"
