Kemi Badenoch is set to declare that the Tories cannot regain the trust of the British public just by highlighting Labour's shortcomings.
During her speech to kick off her campaign for Conservative leader on Monday, the ex-Business Secretary will criticize the current administration for not providing any improved alternatives.
Although she will enumerate several complaints, such as misleading the UK public about the nation's financial condition, she will admit that these grievances will not secure her party a victory in the upcoming election.
"Ms. Badenoch will state, 'If the Conservatives hope to regain the British people's trust, we must do more than simply highlight Labour's faults… entertaining though that may be.'"
"We need to move beyond the policy debates of the previous legislature. We were defeated. We do not hold authority."
Labour will be unsuccessful; and when that moment arrives, and the British public seeks a new direction, we must be that new direction.
"We must concentrate on rejuvenation. This includes the rejuvenation of our political party, our political landscape, and our mindset."
Further Discussion on Conservatives
In the race for Conservative leadership, Kemi Badenoch criticizes the party for leaning left in governance despite right-wing rhetoric, while James Cleverly promises to revive the Rwanda policy.

The conservative faction is divided on the future path of their party. Some members advocate for a move back towards moderate politics, while others urge a lean to the right to counter the rise of Reform UK.
Ms. Badenoch, widely regarded as the preferred candidate among conservatives, is competing with five other individuals to succeed Rishi Sunak: Robert Jenrick, James Cleverly, Dame Priti Patel, Tom Tugendhat, and Mel Stride.
On Monday, as parliament reconvenes following the summer break, Mr. Cleverly is set to deliver a speech where he will urge his party to "embrace traditional Conservative values" and make the case for reducing the size of government.
He will declare that the Conservatives "need to unite and organize" to offer solutions for "a turbulent global environment, worldwide migration, and a growing distrust in capitalism."
"This implies acknowledging the true capacity and limitations of government involvement. It's about defining what the government is and isn't capable of handling effectively. The focus should be on excelling in fewer responsibilities rather than inadequately managing too many," he will further state.
"We acknowledge that it is a fundamental responsibility of the government to safeguard its citizens and its territorial integrity. However, Conservatives need to be transparent about the compromises involved in executing these duties effectively."
