Jorge Martin Conquers Mandalika ‘Ghosts’ to Triumph in Indonesian MotoGP
Jorge Martin acknowledges being haunted by past demons during the Indonesian MotoGP
"I achieved my redemption!"
MotoGP frontrunner Jorge Martin admitted that past accidents during the Indonesian Grand Prix had left him with lingering fears, which he had to overcome to clinch victory on Sunday.

The Pramac competitor lost control and exited from the forefront during the 2023 Indonesian Grand Prix, while on Saturday of the same year, he experienced a fall from the lead position during the initial lap of the sprint race.
Starting at the front of the grid on Sunday for the 27-lap grand prix, Martin "took retribution" on the Mandalika circuit, securing his third major race victory of the season.
After the race, Martin mentioned that thoughts of past accidents were on his mind during the middle of the grand prix.
"Indeed, I've exacted my revenge in Mandalika," stated Martin, who has once again expanded his lead in the championship.
Following last season's accident, today's race posed significant challenges, especially in the wake of yesterday's collision.
"After completing 13 laps, I was haunted by thoughts in turn 11, and this continued every lap at turn 16.
"I was making an effort to be extremely cautious. There was significant sideways wind in that section."
"I found it challenging to make turns, it felt as though I was piloting a scooter. I was aware that Acosta was outperforming me significantly in that segment, but my strategy was to compensate by exerting more effort in other areas."
"At the beginning of the race, I believe I was quite meticulous in grasping the situation before gradually increasing my effort with each lap."
"Acosta was outstanding, continually pressing forward. Despite my efforts to create a distance, he managed to remain within one second of me during those laps."
"Definitely, he's powerful, and I'm pleased with my outstanding performance."
In the initial stages of the race, Martin faced significant competition from Tech3's Pedro Acosta, as his advantage narrowed to less than 0.8 seconds at one point.
The Pramac competitor ultimately crossed the finish line with a 1.4-second lead, although it had expanded to more than two seconds before Martin slowed down on the last lap.
"He emphasized his constant efforts to remain composed."
"I aimed to be at my finest, and regardless if the competitor trailing is one-tenth or eighth, it's crucial to maintain the same approach."
"I didn't attempt to alter my approach or exert more or less effort. I was already giving it my all, so it was Pedro who was gaining ground and slipping up.
"I consistently aimed to repeat the same process in my efforts to improve and excel."
Martin currently holds a tentative lead of 21 points in the championship standings. However, this could change as an ongoing investigation into tyre pressure might result in Acosta being moved down from second place, potentially elevating Francesco Bagnaia.
This would result in Martin's lead in the championship being reduced to 17 points ahead of Bagnaia.
