Johann Zarco Eyes Return to Suzuka 8 Hours, Calls for Honda Progress Ahead of Dall’Igna’s Arrival
Johann Zarco expresses enthusiasm for returning to the Suzuka 8 Hours race, cautioning Honda to advance before Dall’Igna's arrival
"It's essential we make improvements before Dall’Igna enters this class"
Having triumphed with the Honda team at his first Suzuka 8 Hours appearance this year, MotoGP racer Johann Zarco is considering participating again in the 2025 endurance race.
The Suzuka race scheduled for August 1-3 next year is expected to take place during an open weekend in the MotoGP summer hiatus.
"Potentially, if it can be arranged," Zarco mentioned regarding a potential comeback to the 8 Hours in 2025. "I need to review the schedule and see if it fits, but given the enjoyable experience this year, it would certainly be great to participate once more."
The French rider, teaming up with Takumi Takahashi and Teppei Nagoe, secured Honda's third consecutive win at Suzuka, marking him as not the sole MotoGP competitor drawn to the endurance event.
Current world champion Francesco Bagnaia has described participating in the 8-hour race as "one of my greatest aspirations," yet he is concerned that he may not have the opportunity to compete in it until he retires from MotoGP.
Nonetheless, Ducati set the groundwork for a future factory challenge by supporting Team Kagayama to achieve fourth place in this year's competition.
Zarco, who was with Ducati for four years in MotoGP before moving to LCR Honda this year, stated:
"I didn't have a conversation with Pecco, but I communicated to Honda that it's essential for us to make advancements before Dall’Igna enters this [Suzuka] series. Otherwise, our chances of winning will diminish!"
