Indian MotoGP Postponed to Beyond 2025 – A Return Promised
FIM, IRTA, and Dorna Sports Provide Updates on the Future of Indian MotoGP
Organisers have confirmed that the Indian MotoGP is canceled for next year.
In 2025, it will be designated as a reserve event, but it is scheduled to be part of the 2026 MotoGP season, as declared by the FIM, IRTA, and Dorna Sports.
An announcement has been made indicating that due to operational reasons, the event has been postponed from its originally scheduled time at the beginning of the 2025 calendar year.
Due to a lack of open slots in the latter part of the season, MotoGP is set to make its comeback in India at the beginning of 2026.
"MotoGP and InvestUP are diligently collaborating to reintroduce a premier MotoGP event at Buddh International Circuit, solidifying India's status as a host for international sports competitions."
"Our partnership with InvestUP in returning MotoGP to India is creating outstanding groundwork for what lies ahead, and MotoGP eagerly anticipates competing before our amazing Indian supporters at the earliest opportunity."
In the inaugural MotoGP event held in India last year, Marco Bezzecchi from the VR46 team emerged victorious.
This season's schedule initially featured the event, but it was later called off and substituted with another round at Misano. Instead of the scheduled Indian MotoGP, the Emilia Romagna MotoGP occurred last weekend.
The complete schedule for the 2025 MotoGP season has not been finalized; however, it has been disclosed that India will be the sole reserve location.
