Honor Dethrones Samsung to Take Lead in Western Europe’s Foldable Smartphone Market: A New Era in Tech Competition
Honor surpasses Samsung to become the leading brand in Western Europe's foldable smartphone industry
For the first time, the offshoot of Huawei has triumphed in Western Europe, which is the second biggest market for foldable phones after China.
Honor, a smartphone brand from China, has overtaken Samsung Electronics to become the leading producer of foldable-handset devices in Western Europe, as per information from Counterpoint Research, a sector consultancy.
Honor, a subsidiary of Huawei Technologies, topped the charts for the first time in the second quarter. Western Europe, being the next biggest market for foldable phones after China, is a hotly contested area for competitors such as Motorola, Oppo, OnePlus, and Google, as per a recent Counterpoint study.
Honor, the company that introduced its sought-after book-style Magic V2 beyond China's borders in the previous September, witnessed a significant 455% increase in its worldwide foldable deliveries in the second quarter. This growth marked the most substantial annual increase among all brands, as indicated by the report.
Worldwide, Honor's local competitor Huawei has maintained its position as the leading brand in the foldable-phone sector for two successive quarters, largely due to its robust performance in the Chinese market, as reported by Counterpoint.
