Honor Dethrones Samsung to Secure Leadership in Western Europe’s Foldable Smartphone Market
Honor surpasses Samsung to become the leading brand in Western Europe's foldable smartphone industry. For the first time, the offshoot of Huawei grabbed the top position in Western Europe, which is the second biggest market for foldable phones following China.
Honor, a smartphone brand from China, has overtaken Samsung Electronics to claim the top spot as the leading manufacturer of foldable phones in Western Europe, as per data from the industry advisory firm, Counterpoint Research.
Honor, a subsidiary of Huawei Technologies, earned the top spot for the first time in Q2. Western Europe, being the second biggest market for foldable smartphones after China, is a hotly contested area for competitors such as Motorola, Oppo, OnePlus, and Google, as per a recent report from Counterpoint.
Honor, the company that introduced its widely accepted Magic V2, a book-style device, internationally in September of the previous year, observed a significant increase of 455% in its worldwide shipments of foldable units in Q2. This surge was the most substantial annual growth compared to all other brands, as indicated in the report.
Worldwide, Huawei, Honor's local competitor, has maintained its position as the top brand in the foldable-phone sector for two back-to-back quarters, largely due to its robust performance in China, as stated in a separate report by Counterpoint.
