Honor Dethrones Samsung to Reign Supreme in West Europe’s Foldable Smartphone Market
Honor surpasses Samsung to become the leading brand in Western Europe's foldable smartphone market. For the first time, the Huawei offshoot has achieved this status in Western Europe, which ranks as the second biggest market for foldable phones after China.
Honor, a smartphone company from China, has overtaken Samsung Electronics to become the leading producer of foldable devices in Western Europe, as per the data provided by Counterpoint Research, a market analysis firm.
Honor, a branch of Huawei Technologies, claimed the top spot for the first time in the second quarter. The report from Counterpoint notes that Western Europe, which is the second biggest market for foldable phones after China, is a hotly contested field for competitors such as Motorola, Oppo, OnePlus, and Google.
Honor, the company that introduced its acclaimed Magic V2 book-style last September outside of China, experienced a 455% increase in its worldwide foldable shipments in the second quarter. This was the highest annual growth compared to all other brands, according to the report.
Worldwide, Honor's local competitor Huawei has maintained its position as the leading brand in the foldable-phone industry for two successive quarters, due to its robust performance in the Chinese market, as per a separate report by Counterpoint.
