Honor Dethrones Samsung to Lead Western Europe’s Foldable Smartphone Market: A Huawei Spin-off Success Story
Honor surpasses Samsung to become the leading brand in Western Europe's foldable smartphone market
For the first time, the offshoot from Huawei has seized the leading position in Western Europe, which is the second biggest market for foldable phones following China.
Honor, a smartphone brand from China, has outperformed Samsung Electronics to become the leading producer of foldable devices in Western Europe, as per information from the industry advisory firm, Counterpoint Research.
Honor, a subsidiary of Huawei Technologies, claimed the top spot for the first time in the second quarter. Western Europe trails only China as the largest market for foldable handsets and serves as a competitive arena for companies such as Motorola, Oppo, OnePlus, and Google, as stated in a recent report by Counterpoint.
Last September, Honor unveiled its widely appreciated Magic V2 book-style outside of China. According to the report, it witnessed a substantial growth of 455% in its worldwide foldable shipments in the second quarter. This was the highest annual increase compared to other brands.
Around the world, Honor's local competitor Huawei has held onto its position as the leading brand in the foldable-phone sector for two consecutive quarters, mainly due to its strong sales in China, as stated in a separate report by Counterpoint.
