Honor Dethrones Samsung to Lead Western Europe’s Foldable Smartphone Market: A First in the Fierce Handset Battleground
Honor surpasses Samsung to become the leader in Western Europe's foldable smartphone market
For the first time, the offshoot of Huawei has claimed this title in Western Europe, which is the second biggest market for foldable phones following China.
Honor, a smartphone brand from China, has overtaken Samsung Electronics to claim the top spot as the leading producer of foldable phones in Western Europe, as per the statistics provided by the industry advisory firm Counterpoint Research.
Honor, a subsidiary of Huawei Technologies, emerged as the leader for the first time in Q2. According to a recent Counterpoint report, Western Europe, being the second biggest market for foldable phones after China, is a highly competitive area for companies like Motorola, Oppo, OnePlus, and Google.
Honor, the company that introduced its widely liked book-style Magic V2 worldwide last September, experienced a 455 percent increase in its global foldable shipments in the second quarter, marking the most significant yearly growth among all brands, according to the report.
Worldwide, Honor's local competitor Huawei has retained its position as the top brand for foldable phones for two successive quarters, largely due to its robust performance in the Chinese market, as per a separate report by Counterpoint.
