Honor Dethrones Samsung to Dominate Western Europe’s Foldable Smartphone Market: A Triumph of Huawei’s Spin-Off
Honor surpasses Samsung to become the leading brand in Western Europe's foldable smartphone industry
For the first time, the offshoot of Huawei has conquered the top position in the foldable phone market of Western Europe, which is the second biggest after China.
Honor, a Chinese smartphone company, has outpaced Samsung Electronics to become the leading manufacturer of foldable phones in Western Europe, as per the data from the industry consulting firm, Counterpoint Research.
Honor, a subsidiary of Huawei Technologies, emerged as the leading brand in the second quarter for the first time. Western Europe, being the next biggest market for foldable phones after China, is a competitive arena for companies like Motorola, Oppo, OnePlus, and Google, as revealed in a recent report by Counterpoint.
Honor, the company that debuted its well-liked Magic V2 foldable phone internationally last September, experienced a 455% increase in its global shipments in the second quarter. This was the most significant annual growth observed among all brands, according to the report.
Worldwide, Honor's local competitor Huawei has retained its position as the top brand for foldable phones for the second quarter in a row, largely due to its success in the Chinese market, as per a separate report by Counterpoint.
