Honor Dethrones Samsung to Become Top Foldable Smartphone Brand in Western Europe: A New Reign Begins
Honor surpasses Samsung to become the leader in the foldable smartphone market in Western Europe
For the first time, the company that branched out from Huawei has become the top player in the foldable phone market in Western Europe, which is the second biggest market for these devices after China.
Honor, a smartphone brand from China, has overtaken Samsung Electronics to become the leading producer of foldable phones in Western Europe, as per information from the industry consulting firm Counterpoint Research.
Honor, a subsidiary of Huawei Technologies, secured the top position for the first time during Q2. Western Europe trails China as the second biggest market for foldable smartphones and is a hotly contested arena for competitors such as Motorola, Oppo, OnePlus, and Google, as per a recent Counterpoint report.
Honor, the company that introduced its well-liked book-style Magic V2 globally outside of China last September, experienced a 455% surge in its worldwide foldable shipments in the second quarter. This was the most significant annual increase among all brands, according to the report.
Worldwide, Honor's local competitor Huawei has maintained its position as the top brand for foldable phones for two successive quarters, thanks to its robust performance in the Chinese market, as per a different report from Counterpoint.
