Honor Dethrones Samsung: The New Leader in Western Europe’s Foldable Smartphone Market
Honor surpasses Samsung to become the leading brand in Western Europe's foldable smartphone market. This is the first time the offshoot of Huawei has achieved this feat in Western Europe, which is the second biggest market for foldable phones after China.
Honor, a smartphone brand from China, has outperformed Samsung Electronics to take the top spot as the leading producer of foldable phones in Western Europe, as per information from the industry consulting firm, Counterpoint Research.
Honor, a subsidiary of Huawei Technologies, emerged as the leader for the first time in the second quarter. After China, Western Europe is the second biggest market for foldable phones and has become a highly competitive field for brands like Motorola, Oppo, OnePlus, and Google, as per a recent report by Counterpoint.
Honor, having introduced its widely acclaimed book-like Magic V2 internationally in September of the previous year, experienced a 455 per cent surge in its global foldable deliveries in the second quarter. This was the most significant annual increase among all brands, as indicated by the report.
Worldwide, Honor's local competitor Huawei retained its top position as the leading foldable-phone brand for the second quarter in a row, as it performed well in the Chinese market, says a separate report from Counterpoint.
